QNET and Manchester City Collaborate to Empower Ghana's Young Footballers with Elite Coaching
In a remarkable initiative aimed at empowering Ghana's youth, QNET, a global wellness and lifestyle company, and Manchester City Football Club have come together to host a football clinic designed to nurture young talent in Ghana. From May 21 to 24, 2026, 25 aspiring young footballers aged 7 to 11 gathered at the AIS School Park in East Legon, Accra, to benefit from world-class coaching delivered by official Manchester City trainers.
The event reached out to talented boys and girls from various Ghanaian communities, emphasizing not just the technical skills of football, but also vital life skills and mentorship. For these young participants, the clinic was more than a training opportunity; it was a chance to dream bigger, build confidence, and recognize that with dedication and perseverance, they can achieve their potential both on and off the field.
Football holds significant cultural and emotional value in Ghana, inspiring countless young individuals across the nation. Recognizing the sport’s power as a unifying force, QNET and Manchester City aimed to provide resources and access that can have a lasting impact on youth development in the country. By fostering an inclusive environment where children can learn and thrive irrespective of their background, they hope to ignite the spark of ambition within the youth.
Trevor Kuna, Chief of Network Development at QNET, expressed the transformative power of football, stating, "Football does something that few things can — it cuts across language, background, and circumstance, providing young people with a shared language of ambition. Watching these children on the pitch reveals not only their talent but also their eagerness to grow and be recognized. At QNET, we believe that this hunger deserves to be met with opportunity, which is precisely what this clinic offers."
The clinic was organized to impart essential values such as teamwork, leadership, discipline, perseverance, and self-belief, which are crucial not only in sports but throughout life. Each training session was designed to instill these characteristics, helping participants develop both as athletes and individuals.
Cherif Abdoulaye, QNET’s Deputy Regional General Manager for Sub-Saharan Africa, shared insights from a previous clinic held in Nigeria, noting the profound change that world-class coaching can trigger in young people’s self-perception and aspirations. "When we brought this initiative to Nigeria, we witnessed firsthand how young individuals transformed when exposed to top-tier coaching within their communities. Bringing the same experience to Ghana seemed like a natural progression, especially given the nation's deep-rooted football culture and a promising new generation ready to embrace it. We are proud to play a role in their journey."
Moreover, Philipa Harrison, Partnerships Marketing Manager for City Football Group's MENA region, highlighted the commitment of young players throughout the clinic. She stated, "Over these days, we have been amazed by the passion, energy, and dedication exhibited by these young talents. This clinic is all about empowering young individuals to hone their skills, enjoy the game, and believe in their future opportunities. Partnering with QNET to provide this experience in Ghana has been incredibly rewarding."
