Okayama University Empowering Young Researchers
On June 3, 2026, Okayama University, headquartered in Okayama City and helmed by President Yoshitomo Nasu, hosted the 2026 Research Assistant Certification Ceremony at the Tsushima Campus. The certified research assistants, selected through a rigorous process, will primarily focus on their research endeavors over a three-year term, expected to serve as the backbone of the university's research activities. Since its inception in fiscal year 2018, the program has made significant strides in empowering independent research among junior faculty members.
The university also runs the “Senior and Mid-Career Researcher Support Package,” offering outstanding researchers the opportunity to be recognized as Distinguished Professors, along with extended retirement age incentives up to 75 years old as part of the Honorary Professor System. These initiatives outline the comprehensive support structure enacted for researchers across all career stages.
