Collaboration Between ABB and Kyoritsu Electric
ABB, headquartered in Shinagawa, Tokyo, and Kyoritsu Electric, located in Miyazaki City, have recently announced a strategic partnership through a channel partner program. This initiative allows Kyoritsu Electric to manufacture ABB's secondary distribution high-voltage switchgear, the SafeRing/SafePlus Ring Main Units (RMUs), domestically. The collaboration aims to accelerate domestic supply and after-sales support for RMUs in response to the increasing demand from various industries, including manufacturing, renewable energy, data centers, and commercial infrastructure.
As Japan experiences a surge in large-scale facility developments, this partnership strives to provide RMUs that meet high safety standards and proven reliability within short lead times. The goal is to stabilize power supply in key industries and optimize power systems, thereby aiding businesses in strengthening their competitiveness amid rapidly evolving energy scenarios. Under this channel partner program, ABB will oversee the manufacturing and assembly of the main circuit for SafeRing/SafePlus RMUs, while Kyoritsu Electric will handle engineering, final assembly, pre-shipment testing, sales, and after-sales service. Kyoritsu Electric is renowned as a leading engineering solutions provider in Japan, specializing in high and low-voltage electrical systems and switchboard manufacturing. This division of roles is expected to enhance market entry speed and local support for domestic customers.
Mitsuyasu Meira, President of Kyoritsu Electric, expressed his enthusiasm for collaborating with ABB for domestic RMU supply, leveraging the company's engineering expertise and understanding of customer needs to deliver high-quality, reliable solutions promptly. He emphasized the partnership's contribution to supporting Japan's evolving energy infrastructure, enabling customers to prepare with highly dependable solutions for the future.
Masayasu Ishikawa, Head of ABB's Electrification business, noted the established record of RMUs in domestic manufacturing facilities, renewable energy sites, and data centers, underscoring their reliability and timely delivery. With Kyoritsu Electric's profound expertise in distribution solutions, the partnership aims to bolster domestic assembly capacity, addressing the surging demand from critical industries.
In light of this collaboration, both companies plan to strengthen their business ties further, expanding Kyoritsu Electric's capabilities and the portfolio of switchgear they handle.
