Tokyo Auto Salon 2026: A Tribute to the Legendary Porsche 962C
KAMIKAZE COLLECTION is thrilled to announce its participation in the Tokyo Auto Salon 2026, taking place from January 9 to 11 at Makuhari Messe. This year’s exhibit promises to be extraordinary as it showcases the legendary Porsche 962C, in collaboration with the acclaimed Madlane from Okayama. Together, we aim to present an unparalleled experience in automotive detailing.
The Historic Porsche 962C
The vehicle on display is a remarkable representation of racing heritage—the Porsche 962C. This car, with a chassis numbered 962-133, has an impressive history. Originally built as the "962-112," it was derived from a chassis sold by John Fitzpatrick to Dauer Racing. Notably, only two models of this kind made with the custom-made Thompson honeycomb chassis exist in the world, making it exceptionally rare.
This magnificent vehicle was actively competing in races like the SuperCup and WSPC during its prime and even clinched victory at the 1988 Interserie Most. It played a significant role in the successful racing narrative of Dauer Racing, which achieved several historic victories at the Le Mans.
After going through various collectors, this chassis made its way from France to Japan by 2023. Unaltered from its state post-racing, it is undergoing a full restoration at Madlane in Okayama, commencing in 2024. The restoration will refresh everything from the frame and bodywork to the brakes and piping, ensuring that the beloved 962C is ready to hit the track again, with a planned shake-down in 2026.
Artistry in Detailing by KAMIKAZE COLLECTION
At KAMIKAZE COLLECTION, we perceive detailing not just as a service but as a form of artistry. Our approach to this project involves removing the old decals and expertly refreshing the vehicle into a striking “pure white solid” finish. This white aesthetic has drawn inspiration from Japanese future-oriented themes, integrating elements of 'wa' (Japanese harmony) and silver to form our exhibition concept.
Unmatched Surface Refinement and Custom Coating
As part of the meticulous restoration of the Porsche 962C, we have implemented advanced techniques to enhance the paintwork, ensuring that the surface is not only reflective but also showcases the vehicle's contours beautifully. We utilized a painstaking single-action wet sanding process to achieve masterful reflections, illuminating every curve and line.
For the finishing touch, we applied the latest innovation, “IZM COAT,” complemented by a special blend dubbed “OVER COAT MADLANE,” tailor-made for this car. Our philosophy of bringing out the beauty of a truly magnificent machine is encapsulated in this vehicle — it is a testament to our detailing principles.
Limited Edition Product Release
In conjunction with our display, we will offer a limited quantity of the specially formulated “OVER COAT MADLANE” for purchase at the Tokyo Auto Salon. Developed to highlight the car’s legendary beauty, this product incorporates all of KAMIKAZE COLLECTION’s painstaking attention to detail and innovation. Be sure to visit our booth to acquire this unique offering.
Demonstrating Ultimate Detailing Techniques
Throughout the event, our skilled technicians will perform live demonstrations of KAMIKAZE COLLECTION's detailing technologies at our booth. This is an excellent opportunity to witness intricate detailing techniques and the delicate processes involved in perfecting a vehicle's surface up close.
Japanese Detailing: A Global Perspective
This project represents the ultimate fusion of the meticulous Japanese craftsmanship in car customization with our passionate detailing ethos. Additionally, we will be joined by agents from Norway, Latvia, the Czech Republic, Greece, and Thailand, showcasing KAMIKAZE COLLECTION's strong international network.
As we unveil the intricacies of “Japanese detailing,” we invite attendees to witness how we convey this artistry to a global audience.
