Teppei Ono's Exhibition at CIBONE: A Journey Through Ceramics
Ceramics enthusiasts and art lovers alike are in for a treat as Teppei Ono, a renowned ceramic artist, showcases his latest work in a dual exhibition set across two vibrant locations in Harajuku. Hosted by CIBONE, this event will feature a stunning collection of over 400 unique ceramic pieces, including vases and art objects, that embody Ono’s deep connection to society and craftsmanship.
Born in 1958 in Ehime Prefecture, Teppei Ono’s journey into ceramics began in a world rich with cultural influences. After studying under the eminent ceramicist Ryoji Koiwai, Ono ventured into independent work in Tokoname in 1984. His travels across various Asian countries, including Thailand, Laos, and India, have significantly shaped his artistic vision.
Ono’s artistic philosophy is stirred by a profound sense of anger towards societal injustices. He believes that creating art is not simply a personal endeavor, but rather a way to engage and challenge the world around him. Each piece he crafts serves as a reflection of his human experience and a tangible connection to the lives of those who use them. "I want my ceramics to be instinctively reached for in the kitchen, seamlessly integrating into daily life," he once shared, showcasing his desire to make his works both functional and profoundly meaningful.
The exhibition at CIBONE and the contemporary space, StandBy, seeks to impart essential messages to diverse audiences, reminding viewers of the vital necessities in an increasingly fragmented world.
