Exploring Cultural Connections: The Learning Journey Experience by Daiichi Academy High School

Discovering New Horizons: The Learning Journey at Daiichi Academy High School

Daiichi Academy High School, operated by Wizus, is inviting students to embark on the transformative journey known as the "Learning Journey" program from November 19 to 21, 2025. This immersive three-day experience prompts students to reflect on their own career aspirations while exploring the rich cultural landscapes of Japan.

In collaboration with Satonoba University, known for its innovative approach to education through project-based learning focused on local experiences, the Learning Journey is set to take students to various locations across Japan. This marks the fourth year of the program, which aims to connect students with local residents and entrepreneurs, fostering meaningful interactions that shape their perspectives and futures.

The essence of the Learning Journey is to cultivate a sense of appreciation for diverse lifestyles and career paths. Students engage with local communities, learning about the history, culture, and ecological beauty of each region they visit. It’s an opportunity to step outside their comfort zones, challenge their assumptions, and gain insights that could influence their future career decisions.

A Gateway to Growth

Daiichi Academy High School is deeply committed to ensuring that each student experiences personal growth. Many of the school’s students have faced challenges such as school refusal or dropped out of traditional high schools, often resulting in self-doubt. As a response, the academy has created an environment where students can interact with a broad range of individuals and accumulate experiences that foster confidence.

Through this program, students encounter diverse lifestyles and stories, providing them with a chance to reconsider their own career paths positively. It's an opportunity for students to transform their anxieties and struggles about the future into hope and anticipation. We invite you to cover the moment when students realize they can indeed shape their own journeys.

Learning through Hands-On Activities

During the Learning Journey, students will have the opportunity to engage in unique activities such as:
  • - Agricultural Experiences with Entrepreneurs: Engage with local farmers, learn about sustainable practices, and understand the importance of agriculture in the community.
  • - Factory Tours of Dashi (Broth) Production: Experience the crafting of Dashi, a fundamental element of Japanese cuisine, and learn how culinary traditions are preserved and innovated.

Past Participants' Reflection

The impact of the Learning Journey can be seen from the voices of students who have participated in previous sessions:
  • - "It was an incredibly fun and stimulating three days. What stood out most was the passion of the locals to contribute to their community. I want to keep communicating with others and gain new perspectives on life.”
  • - “I’ve always been shy about communicating, but during the city walks and conversations with locals, I realized I could interact well. This experience will help me overcome my past communication difficulties.”
