Asset Co. Announces New Structure for Its 10th Year, Focusing on Food and Medical Services

As Asset Co. gears up for its 10th anniversary, significant changes are on the horizon. The Tokyo-based company, which operates in the Sumida and Moriya areas, has decided to spin off its food service and healthcare divisions into independent corporations. The two new entities will be Hug&Smile, focusing on disability welfare and home healthcare services, and IKI CULTURE WORKS, dedicated to the food industry. These changes will take effect in early June 2026 and are aimed at fostering growth and innovation across the company's diverse service offerings.

Background and Objectives

Asset Co. has come a long way since its inception in 2017 as a real estate management firm. It expanded its services to include disability welfare in 2021, followed by food services in 2022, and plans to launch a home healthcare division in 2024. The company has seen its number of operational sites grow significantly, reaching a total of 25 by the end of April 2026. Each division has continued to develop based on community needs, with plans for further site openings in the near future.

To facilitate this growth, the company has been preparing for the separation of its divisions to clarify their visions and allow for independent management structures tailored to each service area. There are various projects in progress, such as establishing new food service locations and home healthcare stations slated to open by the end of 2026.

Collaboration After Spin-off

The newly established Hug&Smile will focus on enhancing the lives of individuals living with disabilities or chronic illnesses, operating across 16 locations in Moriya, Ibaraki. Meanwhile, IKI CULTURE WORKS, with seven food establishments in Sumida, Tokyo, aims to create vibrant community spots that enrich the neighborhood.

Despite the spin-off, the three entities will maintain close collaboration, including biannual company-wide meetings, ensuring synchronized efforts and leveraging the combined strengths of each company. The aim is to build a robust operational framework, with each company excelling in its specialized field while still supporting the overarching mission of Asset Co.
