EUROBIKE 2025: A Showcase of Smart Cycling Innovations
The highly anticipated EUROBIKE 2025 event has gathered numerous exhibitors to unveil their latest advancements and products in the cycling industry. A focal point this year is the R&D pavilion, backed by the Ministry of Economy, which is showcasing cutting-edge solutions in smart cycling techniques.
The Role of the CHC
The Cycling Health Tech Industry R&D Center (CHC) is taking center stage at the event, revealing innovative mobility solutions that capitalize on the latest R&D initiatives. In particular, the CHC has introduced a common protocol for electric bicycles as a collaborative effort established in 2024 alongside the Taiwan Bicycle Association (TBA). This protocol aims to standardize solutions for electric-assisted bikes, which includes electric bicycles, hand bikes, and electric tricycles.
Various Taiwanese enterprises are joining forces to focus on key areas, such as communication protocols, connectors, power systems, and sensors, ultimately enhancing the compatibility of electric bicycles across different manufacturers.
The CHC is also introducing its first product under this initiative: an interactive platform protocol for electric bicycles designed to integrate components made by different manufacturers. This groundbreaking work marks a significant step towards standardizing components in electric bicycles, which could lead to reduced development costs and improved compatibility in future electric bike systems.
Advancements in E-MTB Technology
In addition to unveiling new R&D results, the Ministry of Economy's pavilion is displaying an innovative E-MTB featuring an automatic gear-shifting system. The design technology utilizes a model-based approach to craft high-end full-suspension electric bike frames, expediting the design process and shortening the development cycle.
The automatic intelligent gear-shifting system utilizes specialized algorithms that control gear transitions seamlessly. Cyclists can switch between manual and automatic modes, manage cadence and power through specific modes, and configure settings internally, all while fine-tuning support ratios without lag.
This transformative technology delivers optimal gear transitions based on selected smart modes and personalized parameters, resulting in a responsive and elevated cycling experience.
Commitment to Sustainability
Innovation is paramount in the cycling sector, and partnerships are critical for progress. The CHC is instrumental in promoting R&D in Taiwan while also serving as the Secretariat of the Bicycling Alliance for Sustainability (BAS). This initiative pushes the Taiwanese cycling industry towards carbon neutrality and fosters global connections while pursuing active international collaborations. The CHC’s efforts aim to present innovative mobility solutions to the global cycling community.
At EUROBIKE 2025, the significant strides made in smart cycling technology and environmental sustainability are not just on display but are indicative of the industry's future trajectory. Cyclists, manufacturers, and enthusiasts can look forward to an exciting era of integration and compatibility within the cycling domain, enhancing overall efficiency and performance on the road.
