Celebrating 25 Years of Ghost Recon

Ubisoft has launched a significant free update, titled 'Last Rites', for Ghost Recon Wildlands in celebration of the series’ 25th anniversary. This update not only features new story missions but also offers enhanced gameplay on next-gen consoles and PC. Fans will be thrilled to see the return of the popular 'Predator' event, which adds another layer of excitement to the tactical gameplay.

New Missions and Enhanced Graphics

The Last Rites update brings players to a darker, more oppressive Bolivia. Players will embark on a standalone mission where they confront a fanatical cult group known as Los Penitentes. They will lead their squad through treacherous swamps and dense forests as they track down the cult leader, La Llorona.

The update enhances visual performance on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Windows PC, allowing for 60FPS gameplay and upgraded visual effects. This means smoother combat, improved drawing distance, enhanced lighting, and high-definition visuals with 4K support. Players can also customize their experience extensively, tailoring aspects like enemy behavior, damage values, weapon limits, and HUD elements to suit their playstyle.

Return of the Predator Event

One of the highlights of this update is the revival of the iconic 'Predator' event, allowing players to encounter a dangerous extraterrestrial threat once again, combining exhilarating action with strategic gameplay.

The creative director, Olivier Leonardi, shared, “Ghost Recon has transformed into what it is today thanks to the passion, dedication, and feedback of the community over the past 25 years. With ‘Last Rites’, we aimed to create an experience that honors that journey, celebrating the essence of Ghost Recon that long-time fans know and love.”

Limited-Time Free Play Opportunities

In addition to the Last Rites update, Ubisoft is offering players an exclusive chance to enjoy three representative titles from the series free of charge. From August 6 to August 10, 2026, players will have access to both Ghost Recon Wildlands and Ghost Recon Breakpoint. These titles promise an ultimate tactical shooter experience.

Furthermore, during the same week, from August 6 to August 13, 2026, players can claim a free copy of the Ghost Recon Future Soldier PC version via Ubisoft Connect. Players can step into the shoes of Kozak, leading Team Hunter in a future war scenario. In September 2026, a special '25th Anniversary Bundle' for Ghost Recon Breakpoint will also be released, featuring various free items like the M4A1 Tactical Brown, Wolf Enhanced Helmet, and Opheis Mk.II Hunter.
