Experience Delicious Hamamatsu in Tokyo: 'Unagi no Bori Meetup!' Vol.2 Event Details

Discover the Rich Flavors of Hamamatsu

Get ready to embark on a culinary journey at the second edition of the 'Unagi no Bori Meetup!' hosted by the Hamamatsu City Tourism and City Promotion Division. This exciting series of events, taking place in Tokyo's Yaesu district, aims to share the delectable seasonal treasures of Hamamatsu with food enthusiasts in the capital.

Event Overview

The event series, entitled 'Enjoying Hamamatsu', features four gatherings, and the upcoming theme is 'Hamamatsu Power Food'. On October 9, 2025, from 6:30 PM to 9:30 PM, participants will be treated to an engaging evening filled with talks and networking opportunities centered on Hamamatsu’s rich food culture and culinary offerings.

What Makes Hamamatsu Special?

Nestled in a mild climate and surrounded by abundant nature, the Hamamatsu and Lake Hamana area boasts a staggering array of food products—approximately 170 agricultural items and 150 marine produce. These fresh ingredients lay the foundation of a diverse and vibrant food culture that not only supports the health of local residents but also embodies the 'Yaramayka Spirit'—an energetic and proactive attitude unique to Hamamatsu.

Traditionally, it is believed that Tokugawa Ieyasu, the founder of the Tokugawa shogunate, thrived due to the local delicacies during the 17 years he spent in Hamamatsu. Hence, Hamamatsu's seasonal ingredients and dishes, now referred to as 'Hamamatsu Power Food', continue to play a key role in promoting the longest life expectancy in Japan.
