Morse Micro Raises $59 Million to Propel IoT Innovations with Wi-Fi HaLow Technology
Morse Micro's Significant Series C Funding Milestone
Morse Micro, a frontrunner in Wi-Fi HaLow silicon solutions, has successfully concluded its Series C funding round, garnering an impressive $59 million (approximately $88 million AUD). This significant financial backing was predominantly led by MegaChips, complemented by notable participation from entities such as the National Reconstruction Fund Corporation (NRFC), Blackbird, Main Sequence, Uniseed, and influential individuals like Ray Stata as well as philanthropists Malcolm and Lucy Turnbull. The inclusion of institutional investors, including Hostplus, NGS, and UniSuper, has propelled the company's total funding to over $193 million (around $290 million AUD) to date.
This newly acquired capital is aimed at accelerating Morse Micro's expansion into international markets, enhancing the production of its cutting-edge Wi-Fi HaLow chips, and facilitating the evolution toward IoT 2.0—a new era in the Internet of Things focused on delivering high-throughput, long-range, and scalable connectivity for IoT devices.
According to Morse Micro's CEO and co-founder, Michael De Nil, this funding boosts their mission to become the premier wireless IoT chip company globally. He stated, “The future of IoT hinges on long-range, power-efficient, and secure connectivity, which is precisely where we excel. This financial raise allows us to expedite our growth and expand our market presence.”
The timing of this funding also coincides with substantial advancements within both Morse Micro and Australia’s semiconductor industry. As part of its strategy, the company is unveiling the HaLowLink 2, its next-generation global evaluation platform, alongside the launch of its second-generation System-on-Chip (SoC). By solidifying partnerships within the ecosystem and rolling out innovative reference designs, Morse Micro is firmly establishing its standing as a pioneer in transitioning IoT from a proof of concept into fully realized industrial and consumer applications.
In a statement affirming their continuing association with Morse Micro, Tetsuo Hikawa, President and CEO of MegaChips Group, expressed confidence in the firm’s ability to lead the global transition to IoT 2.0. He remarked that their collaboration has been crucial in amplifying both production and sales of its flagship Wi-Fi HaLow products. “This investment showcases our belief in the immediate relevance and applicability of Wi-Fi HaLow technology,” he added, highlighting Morse Micro's unique market position.
Moreover, David Gall, CEO of the National Reconstruction Fund Corporation, emphasized the importance of supporting an Australian success story that contributes significantly to job creation and technological advancements. With over 130 employees in Australia, including team members from regional areas in New South Wales, Gall indicated that the investment would enhance the country’s manufacturing capabilities and foster local expertise in semiconductor design and innovation.
