VikingCloud Rejoins Global Executive Assessor Roundtable for the Fifth Time

VikingCloud Rejoins Global Executive Assessor Roundtable

In a significant development for the cybersecurity sector, VikingCloud has been selected to continue its role in the PCI Security Standards Council’s Global Executive Assessor Roundtable (GEAR) for an impressive fifth consecutive term, covering the 2026-2028 period. Since its inception in 2018, VikingCloud has been a key participant in this influential group, which is dedicated to enhancing global payment security standards.

Headquartered in both Chicago and Dublin, VikingCloud is recognized as a cybersecurity and compliance partner trusted by over four million business locations across more than 70 countries. The company's rich experience spans decades, during which they played a pivotal role in the development of the PCI Data Security Standard (PCI DSS), laying the groundwork for safe payment practices worldwide.

Michael Aminzade, the VP of Compliance and Risk Services at VikingCloud, expressed the importance of the upcoming two years. “The next two years will reshape payments more than any period since the standards were created,” he stated. He emphasized that emerging technologies such as Artificial Intelligence, tokenization, and quantum computing raise critical questions for businesses. One such question is whether organizations can continue their operations amidst these transformations. This dual perspective—considering both large enterprises and millions of smaller merchants—will be invaluable in guiding discussions at the roundtable.

The Global Executive Assessor Roundtable comprises a select group of 33 organizations, including VikingCloud, chosen for their industry knowledge, geographical reach, and technical expertise. This collaborative effort is crucial in supporting PCI SSC’s objectives to enhance payment security measures globally.

Gina Gobeyn, the Executive Director of PCI SSC, remarked, “The Global Executive Assessor Roundtable brings together experienced industry leaders whose expertise and perspectives help guide the continued evolution of PCI security standards and programs.” She added that they look forward to collaborating with VikingCloud in advancing their shared mission to protect payment data globally.

Members of the roundtable are scheduled to meet on September 14 in Vancouver, just before the North America Community Meeting kicks off. This gathering will serve as an important platform to refine priorities and further PCI SSC’s objectives for the upcoming term.
