New Collaboration Revealed: UACG Launches Dragon Head T-Shirts in Japan

UACG's New Release: Dragon Head T-Shirt Collection

In a fresh continuation of its cultural project aimed at the MZ generation, United Arrows is excited to unveil its second phase of UACG, showcasing a unique collaboration with the iconic manga series "Dragon Head." Launching on September 26, these exclusive T-shirts will be available at various retail locations including the BY Kichijoji and Osaka stores, as well as the United Arrows online shop. Additionally, a standalone pop-up event will take place at New Man Takanawa from September 26 to October 3.

What is UACG?

UACG, which stands for "United Arrows Anime, Comic, Game," is an innovative project that aims to reinterpret Japanese anime, manga, and gaming culture through fashion. With the tagline of “non-consumable anime T-shirts,” the initiative encourages fans to express their love for Japanese pop culture while promoting sustainability in apparel.

The latest release draws inspiration from the beloved manga "Dragon Head," first published in the 1990s. The project began when the creative director revisited the gripping visuals and tumultuous themes of the series, originally discovered on their parents' bookshelf as a child. This personal connection led to the desire to share the work's depth and its relevance to contemporary society.

A Unique Design Approach

The collection features 10 meticulously designed T-shirts, each showcasing cover art from the 10 volumes of "Dragon Head." Notably, the original cover artwork wasn't readily available, prompting renowned artist Minetarō Mochizuki to remaster the visuals specifically for this project. In an homage to vintage aesthetics, the T-shirts integrate custom dye techniques and special screen printing methods that lend a tactile quality, capturing the rich layers of the original illustrations. Each piece also includes a distinctive Dragon Head logo tag, emphasizing the attention to detail in every design aspect.

The promotional visuals for the collection feature eight diverse models, each representing the community spirit that UACG aims to foster through shared cultural experiences. This initiative not only showcases unique fashion statements but also strives to create an inclusive culture that resonates with a broad audience.

Project Goals and Future Vision

United Arrows operates under the UA MULTI strategy, which focuses on expanding its business and customer base through new ventures. The UACG project specifically targets the MZ generation, facilitating the acquisition of new customers and enhancing the company’s growth trajectory while maintaining a commitment to quality.

Among the standout items in the collection is the UACG DH TERU TEE. Its gradient cover art embodies the textured appearance reminiscent of the manga’s original feel. This piece retails for 12,100 yen and is available in sizes M, L, and XL.

Another highlight, the UACG DH ACO TEE, features a unique frosting technique on the fabric surface to convey a subtle vintage appearance. Priced at 11,000 yen, this T-shirt meticulously captures the detail of the character Aco’s hair. Additionally, the UACG DH PREMIUM BOX TEE offers collectors a unique experience with hand-printed visuals and a limited production of only 99 pieces, complete with a serial number. Marketed at 15,400 yen, this piece allows fans the option to either wear or showcase their shirts, blending functionality with style.

Conclusion

As the release date approaches, fans of both UACG and "Dragon Head" are encouraged to explore this exclusive collection that marries fashion with iconic Japanese culture. The UACG initiative signifies United Arrows' commitment to creating lasting connections through innovative and culturally significant apparel.
