Samson Sky CEO Honored with Global Innovator Award by Congress

Celebrating Innovation in Transportation

On December 11, 2025, Capitol Hill witnessed a remarkable event as Sam Bousfield, the CEO of Samson Sky and the visionary behind the Switchblade Flying Car, was awarded the esteemed GSA Global Innovator Award 2025. This recognition is not just a personal accolade but a testament to groundbreaking advancements in transportation technology. The ceremony was attended by prominent members of the U.S. Congress, including Rep. Danny K. Davis and Rep. Jonathan L. Jackson, who presented Bousfield with both the Global Innovator Award and a Congressional Medallion.

The Switchblade, a revolutionary vehicle that combines the speed of a sports car with the versatility of a flying machine, has been designed to redefine how we think about personal transport. Capable of fitting in a standard garage, the Switchblade can be driven on roads and converted into flight mode in just three minutes at the touch of a button. This innovation promises to save users significant time during regional travels, allowing them to focus on what truly matters—business, leisure, or family.

The Congressional Proclamation highlighted Bousfield’s unique contribution to the automotive and aviation industries, stating, "Bousfield has created what is arguably the only viable flying car ever produced." This recognition stems from the outstanding performance of the Switchblade in both driving and flying modes, along with its affordability and safety measures that protect its wings and tail when on the ground.

Beyond the Switchblade, Bousfield is also making strides with his recent Vertical Take-Off and Landing (VTOL) vehicle designs, which have attracted attention and support from key logistics companies. These VTOL vehicles are expected to set new records for lift capabilities, further driving progress in the transportation sector.

The awarding event was hosted by Dr. Vijay G. Prabhakar, the Chairman of GSA Global Eye Magazine USA, a publication dedicated to showcasing innovations that transform communities and encourage empowerment. Among twenty awardees from across the U.S., Bousfield stood out as a trailblazer, recognized for his profound impact on the industry and the community.

"My primary goal is to help people," Bousfield stated during the ceremony. His passion is reflected not only in the Switchblade’s design but also in his ambitious plans for future VTOL aircraft, which aim to enhance the speed and security of goods transportation—including services tailored to meet the demands of today's fast-paced electronic landscape.

The Switchblade Flying Car had its inaugural official flight in November 2023, showcasing its hybrid-electric design with impressive performance metrics. This innovative vehicle can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in just 5 seconds, features a maximum speed of 125 mph, and boasts a cruising speed of approximately 160 mph. Remarkably, the Switchblade can travel up to 500 miles on a single tank of premium gasoline, operating at altitudes of 13,000 feet. In addition, its engineering guarantees that all flying surfaces are safely enclosed, ensuring users' peace of mind while driving.

Samson Sky has already garnered nearly 2,700 reservations from over 50 countries, solidifying a future revenue estimate exceeding $600 million. As they look ahead, there are plans for certified commercial Switchblade models aimed at enhancing regional and global courier services—a venture funded by accredited investors worldwide. Priced around $200,000, the Switchblade represents a significant feature in modern transportation.

In summary, Sam Bousfield's recognition with the GSA Global Innovator Award is a reflection of his tireless efforts and innovative spirit. It marks a pivotal moment not only for him and his company but also for the future of travel and transportation, promising improved efficiency and connectivity for years to come.
