Kakan Debuts Unique Office Meal Service
Kakan, a popular Mapo tofu specialist that started in Kamakura in 2016, is excited to announce its first foray into office meal services. From September 25, 2025, Kakan will provide its delicious fare through Minna no Shashoku, a company dedicated to enhancing workplace dining experiences.
Kakan operates four locations across the Kanto and Kansai regions, and this partnership marks a significant milestone as it allows employees to enjoy hot and freshly prepared Mapo tofu in the comfort of their offices. The meals will be delivered in a buffet style, ensuring that patrons relish authentic dishes without needing to leave their workplace.
Minna no Shashoku, which began full-scale operations in June 2025, has a core philosophy of fostering camaraderie through shared meals, as reflected in its tagline, "Let’s eat from the same pot together." Once a week, on designated days, the service delivers fresh hot meals from partner restaurants, rotating offerings for variety. A survey of 21 participating companies revealed that an impressive 91% of employees felt motivated to come to the office on delivery days, with 92% reporting enhanced engagement and deeper communication among colleagues. This initiative has played a crucial role in improving attendance rates, engagement, workplace communication, and addressing lunch scarcity issues.
The inclusion of Kakan into this program aims to further elevate employee satisfaction. The company is determined to adhere to its core principle of delivering exceptional customer experiences, continuously seeking ways to improve service and responsiveness to customer needs.
Why Kakan Chose Minna no Shashoku
The decision to offer meals through Minna no Shashoku was influenced by the desire to supplement in-store sales while reaching customers through delivery, especially those who find it difficult to access UberEATS. Kakan's management expresses hope that this new service will attract more customers to visit their physical locations. They appreciate the planning advantages of knowing order quantities and dates in advance, making logistics more efficient and reliable.
Kakan's management commented on their choice of Minna no Shashoku as a partner, highlighting the warmth and professionalism of CEO Takehito Saito, who initially reached out to them. They were drawn to the idea of collaboration after a series of positive interactions.
What's on the Menu
As part of this service, customers will enjoy meals accompanied by original placemats featuring menu highlights and chef insights, turning each meal into a delightful experience. These placemats are designed not only to enhance the dining experience but also to serve as a conversation starter among colleagues, enriching social interactions during lunch breaks.
