Ole Orvér Appointed as New CEO of oneworld

The global airline alliance oneworld has announced the appointment of Ole Orvér as its new chief executive officer, effective April 1, 2026. With over twenty years of experience in the airline industry, Orvér is set to lead the alliance in its mission to enhance value for member airlines and their customers. He has an impressive history, having served most recently as Chief Commercial Officer at Finnair.

Orvér's tenure at Finnair was marked by significant transformations in its commercial strategy. He implemented major revenue initiatives that significantly improved passenger loyalty and reshaped the airline's network approach. Robert Isom, CEO of American Airlines and current Chairman of oneworld's Governing Board, expressed confidence in Orvér's capabilities, stating, "We are pleased to welcome Ole as CEO of oneworld as the alliance leads the world in redefining the full breadth of value it provides to member airlines and their customers."

Before joining Finnair, Orvér held a prominent role at Qatar Airways as Senior Vice President of Network Management. His extensive experience also includes leadership positions at non-member airlines including Air Berlin, LOT Polish Airlines, and SAS Scandinavian Airlines. He holds a degree in Economics from Mid Sweden University and has furthered his education with a certification in Strategic Thinking and Leadership from Penn’s Wharton School.

Orvér succeeds Nathaniel Pieper, who has transitioned to a new position at American Airlines. Isom acknowledged Pieper's contributions, thanking him for his significant impact during his time as CEO of oneworld.

As CEO, Orvér's objectives will include driving initiatives aimed at enhancing customer benefits through greater airline integration and technological advancements. He will report directly to the Governing Board, which comprises the CEOs of oneworld's member airlines.
