Discover the Iwate Hanamaki Fair in Kitasenju
The Iwate Hanamaki Fair will be held at Kitasenju Marui, located on the second floor of the building, from November 26 (Wednesday) to December 2 (Tuesday). This special pop-up event brings together an array of local specialties from Hanamaki City in Iwate Prefecture, offering a unique opportunity for visitors to engage with and support local producers directly.
Experience Hometown Tax Donations
One of the standout features of this fair is the chance for attendees to participate in hometown tax donations directly at the venue. Visitors can enjoy a convenient experience where they can choose special products to take home as return gifts. This approach enhances the connection between donors and producers, as it allows for an instant exchange of heartfelt local goods directly from the source.
The event will showcase items featured on the popular “Pokemaru Hometown Tax Donation” website, including unique offerings like ‘Platinum Pork’ (白金豚) and ‘Horohoro Chicken’ (ほろほろ鳥). All products will be available for purchase on-site, and for those interested, our staff will provide personal assistance and guidance on the donation process, making it a welcoming experience for first-time participants.
Spotlight on Local Producers
The Iwate Hanamaki Fair will not only exhibit products but also highlight the stories behind the local producers creating these exceptional goods. Here are a few highlights:
Platinum Pork by Makoto Takahashi (Takahara Seimugi Co.)
Makoto Takahashi is dedicated to raising ‘Platinum Pork’ with great care. He collaborates with local farmers and focuses on producing domestic feed, aiming for sustainable farming that benefits the community. This finely-textured pork offers a juicy and tender eating experience, rich in flavor with a delicate taste free from any off-putting elements.
Horohoro Chicken by Shinjiro Ishiguro (Ishiguro Farm)
At Ishiguro Farm, Shinjiro Ishiguro provides a nurturing environment for the ‘Horohoro Chicken,’ utilizing naturally warm chicken coops and homegrown rice for feed. This commitment to natural farming methods results in a high-quality product that highlights the chicken's natural flavors, which are enhanced through a unique smoking method developed over 40 years of experience.
Blueberry Puree by Kumiko Suzuki (blue velvet HANAMAKI)
Kumiko Suzuki transitioned from corporate life to become an agricultural entrepreneur. She crafts a luxurious blueberry puree made from ripe, locally-grown blueberries, capturing their natural sweetness without any added sugars. This puree is versatile, perfect as a topping for yogurt or pastries, and enhances the flavor of savory dishes.
