Giti Tire Completes S$150 Million Sustainability Notes Offering to Boost Green Projects
Giti Tire's Milestone: Completion of S$150 Million Sustainability Notes
On October 21, 2025, Giti Tire announced the successful completion of its issuance of Sustainability Notes amounting to S$150 million. This strategic financing initiative, arranged collectively by leading financial institutions including DBS Bank Ltd., Deutsche Bank, and HSBC, represents a pivotal step in the company's journey towards enhancing its sustainability efforts.
The Sustainability Notes, which have a term of five years, are priced at par with a coupon rate of 5.750%. The proceeds will be allocated towards funding or refinancing expenses associated with eligible green and social projects outlined in Giti's Sustainable Finance Framework. Moody's has provided a Second Party Opinion (SPO) regarding this framework, which can be accessed on Giti's official website.
Giti's Commitment to Sustainable Finance
Giti's Sustainable Finance Framework aligns with its mission of "Continual Growth in Business, Stewardship, and Uplifts." This framework establishes a novel approach to profitability, known as REAL profit, which incorporates sustainability considerations into financial assessments. Giti is striving for net zero on cash neutrality, ensuring that its climate ambitions are balanced with prudent financial management.
Dr. Pang Chong Hau, Chief Sustainability Officer at Giti, emphasized the importance of this financing mechanism in achieving the company's objectives. He stated, "As we pursue our goals, we also take into account the costs of implementation. Through mutual agreements and collaboration, we work closely with partners to expand the definition of value and achieve a balance where the benefits and savings generated by sustainable practices outweigh the costs of implementing them. In this way, sustainability and profitability can go hand in hand."
Innovations Driving Green Initiatives
Giti is actively pursuing various projects that align with its sustainability objectives throughout the year. Recently, the company partnered with a leading electric vehicle manufacturer to create the GitiSport e.GTR2 Pro tire, specifically for the world’s fastest production car, which boasts a speed of 496.22 km/h. This collaboration highlights Giti's technological capabilities in providing high-performance tires for emission-free vehicles.
The electric vehicle currently attempting to set a record for the "Most Countries Visited in an Electric Vehicle" is fitted with GitiSynergy H2 tires. This vehicle has traveled over 80,000 kilometers across 70 countries and stands as a testament to the durability and longevity of Giti tires, which play a crucial role in waste reduction and improving the efficiency of electric vehicles.
At the production level, Giti's new manufacturing facility in Anhui is geared towards sustainable production. Equipped with advanced automation, this facility features 35,000 square meters of solar panels on its roof, anticipated to yield annual savings of 20-30%. It also hosts Giti's first production line dedicated to emission-free tires, paving the way toward achieving net-zero operations.
Giti's leadership in sustainability has been acknowledged with accolades such as the CDP Disclosure badge and the EcoVadis Platinum Award. Furthermore, it has developed a 93% sustainably produced concept tire made from renewable and recycled materials, reiterating its commitment to circular innovation.
A Commitment Beyond Compliance
Dr. Enki Tan, Executive Chairman of Giti, articulated the company's philosophy regarding sustainability: "At Giti, sustainability is not merely a response to regulatory requirements; it is a responsibility we embraced long before global frameworks were established." He added, "These Sustainability Notes represent a declaration of intent and a form of accountability aimed at accelerating projects that reduce emissions and support the communities in which we operate."
Giti continues to earn the trust of investors, driving sustainable transformation, and enhancing its reputation as a reliable global leader in sustainable mobility.
