Akari Inc.: A New Era of Innovation Begins in Ochanomizu
Akari Inc., an AI startup emerging from the University of Tokyo, has officially commenced operations at its newly relocated headquarters in Ochanomizu Solacity on the 21st floor. This new office space spans approximately 900 tsubo, which is about five times larger than its previous location, designed to enhance convenience, functionality, and scalability for the growing workforce.
Background and Objectives of the Move
Akari, whose name means "light" in Japanese, has a mission to "shine a light on Japan" and seeks to address the structural challenges faced by various industries through advanced technology. Focused on the construction sector since its inception, Akari has recently expanded its solutions across a wider range of industries, including manufacturing, logistics, and wholesale/retail. The company aims to bolster competitiveness among businesses in these sectors and update Japan's industrial framework as a whole.
Currently, Akari has seen significant growth, receiving widespread support from various corporations. The company has grown to over 360 employees in just five years of operation. As ongoing recruitment efforts continue and the need for more space becomes evident, the relocation to a more spacious office was deemed necessary.
Features of the New Office
The newly built office integrates the essence of traditional Japanese aesthetic with modern functionality, creating an environment where employees and visitors can center themselves and embrace new challenges together. The entrance reflects a Japanese design ethos, prominently displaying Akari's logo alongside its mission statement, "To be the light of Japan." A beautifully designed folding screen depicts graceful cranes, majestic mountains, sturdy pines supporting flight, and cherry blossoms that herald the arrival of spring.
In addition to individual workspace areas tailored for concentrated work, the office boasts a large seminar room and significantly increased meeting rooms. The names of the meeting rooms, such as "Kabuto" (helmet), "Chidori" (plover), and "Momiji" (maple leaves), draw inspiration from traditional designs encompassing good fortune and aspirations, making them approachable and engaging for employees.
While maintaining a five-day full-time office attendance policy, Akari aims for the enriched environment of its new space to further enhance communication among employees, contributing to the resolution of client issues even more effectively.
