A Unique Brunch Club Experience with Julius Meinl and KUBUS

In a delightful collaboration, Julius Meinl has teamed up with the culinary duo KUBUS to unveil an innovative brunch experience that highlights contemporary Austrian cuisine blended with the rich traditions of coffee and tea. This intimate gathering was designed for a select group of eight guests, presenting a thoughtfully curated multi-course menu that centers around the idea that coffee and tea can be more than mere beverages—they are powerful catalysts for connection and conversation.

Elena and Peter, the creative minds behind KUBUS, bring a refreshing twist to traditional Austrian dishes by combining classical cooking techniques with innovative perspectives. Elena, who launched her career in the business world, and Peter, a former professional snowboarder, have since transitioned into the culinary arena, gathering experiences from prestigious kitchens in Austria and beyond, including Michelin-starred establishments like Taubenkobel in Burgenland, and Jordnær in Copenhagen.

Elena shared her insights on the Austrian coffee culture, stating, "In Austria, coffee rituals are essentially periods of time where we pause, savor, and connect with one another. The cuisine embodies this same philosophy; the time spent crafting a dish or preparing a cup of coffee with loved ones holds intrinsic value. It represents both an act of generosity and an opportunity for creativity. Experiencing some classic Austrian dishes in this intimate context was a thrilling adventure for us."

A Culinary Journey Through Austrian Classics

The guests were treated to a delightful array of Julius Meinl coffees brewed using different methods, including espresso machines, Bialetti, AeroPress, and Chemex. Highlights from the menu included:
  • - Buchteln served with vanilla sauce infused with Julius Meinl's Organic Rooibos Wintery Days tea.
  • - Flambéed pancakes drizzled with caramel sauce infused with Julius Meinl's Premium Espresso.
  • - Tafelspitz, gently poached in Julius Meinl’s Organic Treasure of Asia tea, paired with apple horseradish.
  • - Tea-cured eggs infused with Julius Meinl's Organic Assam Gold tea and Sencha green tea salt.
  • - Roasted pumpkin glazed with ground Julius Meinl Premium Crema coffee and coffee oil.
  • - Coffee dumplings accompanied by Julius Meinl Premium Crema juice and sauerkraut.

The Rise of Brunch Clubs and High-End Home Dining

Post-pandemic, the popularity of supper and brunch clubs has soared as diners seek unique culinary experiences that foster intimacy and community. Often hosted in private or unexpected venues, these gatherings evoke a sense of closeness that transcends traditional restaurant or café settings.

Andreea Postolache, Global Marketing and Sales Director of Julius Meinl Coffee Group, emphasized the intriguing dialogue between home cooking and innovations emerging in cafés and restaurants, stating, "There’s an exciting moment to rethink how coffee and tea function as pairings and ingredients in our dining experiences. The Brunch Club was an ideal format to highlight this, as coffee and tea inherently promote connection wherever they are enjoyed. Working alongside KUBUS allowed us to emphasize this in a refreshing manner."

Julius Meinl, a proud ambassador of Vienna’s coffee culture, remains committed to exploring new ways to reinterpret taste rituals and the essence of togetherness. In collaboration with Jung von Matt DONAU and produced by Bagage, the Brunch Club experience was a true celebration of culinary artistry.
