Julien's Auctions Announces Princess Diana's Iconic Collection
Julien's Auctions is setting the stage for a landmark event in the world of fashion and royal memorabilia. On June 26, 2025, at The Peninsula Beverly Hills, the auction house will unveil its highly anticipated sale titled "Princess Diana's Style & A Royal Collection." This event promises to attract fashion enthusiasts, collectors, and admirers of the late princess, featuring over 300 unique lots that showcase her timeless style and historic significance.
Among the exceptional pieces up for bid is the iconic 1986 Catherine Walker Falcon evening gown, with an estimated value of $200,000 to $300,000. This stunning dress is just one of many artifacts that have never before appeared at auction, giving bidders a rare opportunity to own a piece of royal history. Other notable items include the floral-patterned day dress by Bellville Sassoon from 1988, an Escada three-piece suit, and her famous red ski suit from HEAD. Accessories will also play a pivotal role in the auction, including a peach honeymoon hat by John Boyd and her Lady Dior handbag made of sheepskin.
In addition to items from Diana’s personal collection, the auction will feature never-before-seen fashion pieces and personal belongings of the British royal family, including items related to Queen Elizabeth II, Princess Margaret, and the Queen Mother. Highlights include a fashion illustration by Norman Hartnell for Princess Margaret, her antique diamond and natural pearl bracelet, and a stunning Givenchy gown worn by the Duchess of Windsor.
Elizabeth Emanuel, the British designer behind Diana's legendary 1981 wedding dress, is contributing exclusive personal archival items and sketches to the collection. Emanuel stated, “The eternal beauty and style of Diana continue to inspire. It is a great honor for me to share these memories with the world.” This auction not only celebrates Diana's legacy but also aims to honor her charitable contributions, with a portion of the proceeds designated for Muscular Dystrophy UK, an organization that aligns with her philanthropic endeavors.
Julien's Auctions is renowned for its record-breaking sales, having previously auctioned off one of Diana's evening gowns for an impressive $1.14 million in 2023 and her shoes for $390,000 in 2024. Co-founder and CEO Martin Nolan expressed, “This auction highlights Diana's elegance and lasting cultural impact.”
Prior to the main auction, private previews will be held in New York, London, and Los Angeles, giving select collectors a first look at these remarkable items. The online auction will commence at 10 a.m. Pacific Time on June 26, 2025, at The Peninsula Beverly Hills.
