Promoting South Tama: University Students' Innovative Ideas in the Draft Conference

In a vibrant collaboration among academia, government, and local businesses, the Tama-Rhythm Project is set to host its concluding draft conference on December 15, 2025. This initiative, which began in April 2025, aims to gather innovative promotional proposals from university students to promote the five cities of South Tama – Tamacity, Inagi City, Hachioji City, Hino City, and Machida City.

Event Details

The draft conference is scheduled for December 15, 2025, from 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM, with registration opening at 12:15 PM. The venue for this exciting event will be the Tokyo Tama Mirai Messe located at 3-19-2 Myojincho, Hachioji City. Participation is open to businesses, tourism associations, universities, local governments, and other stakeholders. Interested organizations can apply via a QR code linked to the registration form by the deadline of December 10, 2025, at 5:00 PM. The event is sponsored by the Tama-Rhythm Project Executive Committee, which includes representatives from all five cities.

Student Innovation in Action

This year’s competition invited student teams to submit their promotional ideas for South Tama. After a rigorous preliminary selection round held in July, ten promising teams emerged to further refine their concepts over the months leading to the draft conference. Students conducted field experiments to validate their ideas and enhance them for practical implementation.

During the conference, representatives from businesses and local government will have the unique opportunity to express interest in these projects. Utilizing negotiation slips, they may engage directly with the student teams to explore potential collaborations. The jury will evaluate the final presentations from these teams and award prizes to those with the most outstanding projects at the conclusion of the event. Additionally, this will be a great opportunity for attendees to interact with students and learn more about their innovative proposals.
