Hispanic Star Defends the Latino Narrative in Davos to Raise Economic Awareness
The annual Davos forum held this year, under the theme "Collaboration for the Smart Era," came at a pivotal time for reshaping the Latino narrative. Hispanic Star returned to Davos for the sixth consecutive year, leading a delegation headed by its founder, Claudia Romo Edelman. The mission was clear: to share and highlight the integral role of the Latino community in driving economic growth and technological innovation on a global scale.
Given the current shifting landscape and the new administration in the United States, the discussions at Davos have taken on heightened importance. Romo Edelman, with nearly thirty years of experience participating in these high-profile discussions, emphasized the necessity of including Latino voices to effectively tackle global challenges. "As we step into a new era, Hispanic Star advocates for a refreshed narrative that underscores the undeniable economic prowess of Latinos. We contribute $3.6 trillion to the U.S. GDP and will account for 68% of the workforce growth in the United States by 2030," she pointed out, reinforcing the idea that the Latino narrative as key economic drivers is more relevant than ever.
In Davos, Hispanic Star led several significant activities, including two influential panels: "The Roadmap to Power," co-sponsored by A LA LATINA, which gathered global leaders and allies for discussions led by Bea Pérez, Executive Vice President and Chief Communications, Sustainability, and Strategic Alliances Officer at The Coca-Cola Company; Pilar Cruz, Executive Vice President and Chief Sustainability Officer at Cargill; and Aldijana Šišić, PhD, Global Director of Private Sector Alliances at UN Women. The panelists explored challenges, forged partnerships, and strategized on breaking down barriers and building powerful networks.
The second panel, "How Tokenization Democratizes Financial Markets and Fuels Financial Inclusion," hosted by Hedera, included experts such as Betsabe Botaitis, Martin Cabrera Jr., and Sheila Warren, who discussed the need for improved products while also democratizing markets and enhancing financial inclusion.
This year's discussions also prominently featured Artificial Intelligence (AI), with Hispanic Star advocating for AI as a fundamental tool to promote data equity and combat misinformation. By ensuring Latinos are notably integrated into the development and implementation of AI technologies, the organization aims to guarantee that technological advancements accurately reflect Latino contributions and counteract the perpetuation of stereotypes.
As we evolve into an era characterized by global interaction and technological integration, the contributions of Hispanic Star at Davos are not only a report on progress but also a call to action for the inclusion of Latinos across all stages of global economic and technological development.
