Promoting Disability Employment Visibility
Keiai Star Real Estate Co., Ltd., headquartered in Honjo City, Saitama (led by President Keiichi Hanaba), recently hosted an internal tour aimed at promoting understanding of disability employment among its workforce. This initiative, spearheaded by the company's dedicated
Challenge Synergy Section, provides employees an invaluable opportunity to witness firsthand the contributions of colleagues with disabilities in their daily roles.
Overview of the Visit
During this event, the company's external director and chair of the Sustainability Committee,
Emi Kaneko, participated as a guest. The
Challenge Synergy Section conducted a comprehensive walk-through that facilitated insight into both the principles and practical aspects of disability employment. The tour included a view of several key tasks executed by employees with disabilities, such as creating business cards, cleaning apartment keys, and performing mapping tasks at property acquisition sites, thereby deepening attendees' understanding of their colleagues' work and responsibilities.
Achievements in Disability Employment
Since 2015, Keiai Star has actively pursued the hiring of athletes with disabilities, establishing the
Keiai Challenged Athlete Team in 2019 with five athletes, a number that has now increased to eight. In 2023, the company launched the
Challenge Center, managing tasks such as operational support and office maintenance, employing 40 people with disabilities who assist in various departments.
As part of its evolving structure, a new
Challenge Synergy Section will be established in 2024 to further promote disability employment. This initiative not only fosters employment but also aims to realize business synergies through in-house production, enhancing productivity while allowing all employees to concentrate on their core functions and sales activities.
Corporate Social Responsibility
In Japan, approximately 11.646 million people, making up about 9.3% of the population, live with disabilities. However, the private sector only accounts for about 677,000 employed individuals in this demographic. Acknowledging this context, Keiai Star is diligently working to create more employment opportunities for people with disabilities, viewing this as a core aspect of its corporate social responsibility (CSR).
Going forward, the company aims to expand its employment efforts, focusing on three key areas: economic independence, mental autonomy, and social confidence for individuals with disabilities. To this end, the establishment of special subsidiary companies is also in consideration.
