Too Good To Go Expands Its Services

Too Good To Go, the world-renowned food waste reduction app from Scandinavia, is taking a significant step in Japan by expanding its services alongside Supervalue stores. This expansion, effective June 17, 2026, will include 15 locations across the Tokyo area, and bolster the partnership between Too Good To Go Japan and OIC Group, the parent company of Supervalue. With this initiative, the total number of Supervalue stores participating will reach 26.

Since March 2026, two Supervalue stores in Tokyo have been pilot testing the Too Good To Go app. The response has been overwhelmingly positive, as the initiative not only reduces food waste but also draws in new customers motivated by the value offered through the app. Regular users have even shared their excitement, noting they enjoy the surprise aspect of the offerings which have proven to increase sales of other items as well.

This strategy aims to build on the initial success observed at the test locations, where customers reportedly enjoy discovering new products offered through the app's surprise bags. The joint effort between Too Good To Go and Supervalue is designed to create a dynamic shopping experience that encourages food waste reduction, while also appealing to customers who appreciate unique food options.

  • - Existing Locations: Fussa, Shimo, Nishiogikubo, and various locations of the Lopia chain among others

It is important to note that the specifics of the locations and duration of the service may change depending on product availability, but the goal remains clear: to engage more residents in Tokyo, Saitama, and Chiba in the fight against food waste by making it easier and more enjoyable.

Hiroto Ooka, the CEO of Too Good To Go Japan, expressed enthusiasm about the expansion. He commented, "We are honored to strengthen our partnership with Supervalue and expand our services to all their stores across the Kanto region. The success of our pilot implementation in Tokyo not only validated our food waste reduction strategy but also allowed us to offer a variety of delicious foods to our users. We look forward to spreading the enjoyment while participating in food waste reduction throughout Saitama and Chiba."
