Guthrie's Colorado Debut: A Family Legacy Continues
Guthrie's, the original restaurant specializing in chicken fingers, is officially making its entrance in Colorado with the grand opening scheduled for July 14 at 1520 S Nevada Ave, Colorado Springs. This marks a milestone, as it's the brand's first location in the Centennial State, and it’s led by the third generation of the Guthrie family, specifically Joe Kelly Guthrie, Tanner Guthrie, and Garrison Guthrie. The Guthrie brothers represent a continuation of their family’s cherished legacy in the culinary world, particularly in serving quality chicken finger dishes.
As part of the brand's strategy for growth, Colorado Springs was identified as the perfect launchpad due to its vibrant community, rapidly growing population, and the presence of one of the largest military communities in the country. The location offers an opportunity for Guthrie's to introduce its signature offerings to a fresh audience, including active-duty service members and their families who will surely appreciate the comforting taste of chicken fingers that they may have loved at other locations.
Tanner Guthrie expressed the excitement felt by the family in opening the restaurant, emphasizing how Guthrie's has always played an integral role in their family's history. “My brother and dad and I are thrilled to be opening this location. Colorado Springs is vibrant with a strong community spirit and growth—an ideal place to serve countless military families,” said Tanner.
In celebration of this exciting new chapter, Guthrie's will host a grand opening ceremony that begins at 9 a.m. The event will feature a unique promotion to attract customers: the first 200 guests will have the chance to receive free Guthrie's meals for an entire year! Specifically, the initial 100 guests will be rewarded with one free Original Box Combo per week for 12 months, while the next 100 guests will receive one free Original Box Combo each month for a year. These offers are designed to engage the local community and allow them to experience Guthrie's quality fare
Tom Carr, President and CEO of Guthrie's Franchising, remarked on the significance of this opening. With Tanner and Garrison managing the new location, it symbolizes a meaningful step in advancing the Guthrie family brand into new territories. Carr reiterated the potential of Colorado Springs as an ideal starting point, excitedly looking forward to welcoming the first customers.
Guthrie's has cultivated loyal followings by focusing on its core offering without distraction. While many competitors have chosen to broaden their menus, Guthrie's steadfastly remains dedicated to its signature items — hand-breaded chicken fingers paired with golden crinkle-cut fries, buttery Texas toast, and the exceptional Guthrie's sauce. This focused approach allows the restaurant to serve high-quality dishes known for their taste and satisfaction.
The new restaurant is expected to operate from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m., and will create approximately 50 new jobs within the Colorado Springs community, further contributing to the local economy.
Founded in 1965 in Haleyville, Alabama, Guthrie's has expanded over the years and now boasts more than 70 locations across 14 states, known for its commitment to serving high-quality, reasonably priced food. The opening of the Colorado Springs location is a significant step in Guthrie's aggressive expansion plans for 2026.
