Reality Defender Forms Government Advisory Board to Combat Deepfake Threats

On April 23, 2025, Reality Defender, a prominent deepfake detection platform recognized by the RSA Sandbox Innovation Award, announced the establishment of its Government Advisory Board. This initiative aims to enhance the security of critical communication channels against the rising threat of deepfake impersonations, particularly in national security contexts.

The formation of this board represents a significant milestone in Reality Defender's mission to foster trust in an era dominated by artificial intelligence. With the proliferation of generative AI technologies, malicious actors are increasingly using sophisticated tools to impersonate individuals and spread misinformation, making the need for effective solutions more urgent than ever.

The newly constituted advisory board is composed of several esteemed leaders from the defense and intelligence sectors, each bringing a wealth of experience and knowledge. These include:
  • - Lt. Gen. Charlie "Tuna" Moore (Ret.) - Former Deputy Commander of the United States Cyber Command, who will contribute his extensive knowledge of cyber operations and security.
  • - Jennifer Ewbank - Former Deputy Director of the CIA for Digital Innovation and Founder of Andaman Strategic Advisors. She will provide insights into digital transformation and security.
  • - Maj. Gen. Clay Hutmacher (Ret.) - Operating Partner at DCVC and Former Director of Operations of the United States Special Operations Command, offering expertise in operational readiness and strategic initiatives.
  • - Lt. Gen. Robert Ashley, Jr. (Ret.) - Former Director of the Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA) and Army Deputy Chief of Staff, G-2, contributing his profound understanding of intelligence and defense.

Ben Colman, CEO and Co-Founder of Reality Defender, emphasized the importance of the board's collective expertise in advancing the company’s detection capabilities.
