Dive into the World of Medicinal Plants
The upcoming exhibition titled "Current Journey of Medicinal Plants" at ATELIER MUJI is set to captivate the audience from
August 28 to November 23, 2026. Hosted at
MUJI Ginza, the event aims to shed light on the various ways medicinal herbs, like peppermint and ginger, have been integrated into modern living, promoting wellness and health.
The theme of the exhibition revolves around the historical and cultural utilization of medicinal plants, which have been a part of human life since ancient times. Archaeological findings suggest that herbs were used for medicinal purposes as far back as the
Jomon period, over
10,000 years ago. This exhibition not only highlights these plants but also acknowledges that different regions of Japan have unique flora suitable for various uses, shaped by the local climate and culture.
ATELIER MUJI's philosophy resonates with the core of the exhibit. It encourages a mindful re-evaluation of everyday knowledge and practices that have been passed down through generations. Attendees will be invited to reflect on and re-integrate these insights into their daily lives, fostering a richer existence through thoughtful engagement with familiar resources. The exhibition aspires to create a space that encourages visitors to discover not just new practices but also to appreciate what they already have around them.
