Rimako Horikawa's Art Exhibition: Footprints in Time
The Seiko House Hall in Ginza is set to host the solo exhibition, "Footprints in Time," by renowned artist and picture book author Rimako Horikawa, starting from April 23 and running until May 6. This marks her eighth exhibition at Wako in three years, showcasing her continual evolution in the art world.
This exhibition encapsulates the essence of life through the lens of Horikawa's unique artistic themes. The title, "Footprints in Time," symbolizes the traces we leave behind as we navigate through life. The works feature various motifs, including animals, children, and clocks, all while evoking feelings of nostalgia.
Horikawa will display around 60 pieces, which encompass rich paintings, pottery, and rare original illustrations from her children’s books. Notably, her new works explore the interplay of light and shadow, engaging audiences by subtly shifting expressions that resonate with individual experiences. This captivating use of colors and warmth invites viewers into her artistic realm, encouraging them to reflect on their own narratives.
A gallery talk by Horikawa is scheduled for April 26 at 2:00 PM, providing attendees with an intimate opportunity to connect with the artist. However, be mindful that entry may be limited during peak times.
Artist Participation Schedule
Horikawa will be present throughout the day on April 23. On other days, she will join from 1:00 PM onward, with the exception of April 27 and May 1 when she will not be available.
Horikawa reflects on her art, sharing, "Reflecting on life’s meaning has been a growing focus for me lately. Living means leaving behind footprints everywhere, and weaving individual stories, no matter how small, is a truly happy endeavor. I wish to illustrate these personal tales within my artwork. I have also found joy in exploring fascinating forms and imagery, which is, in essence, my genuine expression."
