Television Tokyo's 'SDGs Week': A Celebration of Sustainable Development



From September 8 to 14, 2025, Television Tokyo will host the much-anticipated 'SDGs Week,' a large-scale campaign aimed at promoting sustainability and addressing global social issues. The theme for this year's event is "For Everyone's Future,” focusing on enlightening viewers about various initiatives by individuals and companies tackling pressing societal challenges through broadcasts and online content.

A Milestone Event


This marks the seventh iteration of the 'SDGs Week,' which has grown stronger since its earlier versions. A record-breaking 16 programs will participate this year, including 'World Business Satellite' and engaging variety specials like 'Emergency SOS! Let's Drain the Pond,' and 'Ideas to Improve Japan by 1 Millimeter.' These diverse presentations highlight how various shows are contributing to sustainability efforts. Unique special programs such as 'Nothing Goes to Waste Project' and 'How About This for SDGs?' will also air.

Featured Specials


On September 13, from 12:15 to 14:15, catch 'How About This for SDGs?' where renowned host Kiyotaka Nanbara will lead discussions in Ibaraki Prefecture’s former school, focusing on three revitalization projects using discarded food, books, and items to ensure they don’t go to waste.

On September 14, from 18:30 to 20:50, the beloved 'Emergency SOS! Let's Drain the Pond' returns. With famous guests like Masahiko Kondo and Ryoko Kuninaka, the program will drain ponds at notable sites such as the historic Kochi Castle and in the expansive "Prince's Forest" in Hokkaido, highlighting the importance of protecting ecosystems.

Viewer Interaction in Shinjuku


In conjunction with 'SDGs Week,' an interactive real-world event called 'Television Tokyo SDGs Park' will be held in Shinjuku. This engaging experience aims to make learning about sustainability enjoyable through collaboration with popular shows. Visitors can explore a display of SDGs-themed art made from production-set leftovers, and participate in interactive exhibitions such as manually charging bikes made famous by 'Degawa Tetsurou's Charging Experience.'

Engaging Workshops

Attendees can also enjoy workshops that highlight environmental projects like the 'Ocean Forest Project,' which aims to combat ocean desertification. Crafting sessions offer visitors opportunities to create kaleidoscopes using dried seaweed and participate in the 'Moact' collaboration booth, promoting social contributions while enjoying fun activities.

Children and adults alike can meet Nanana, TV Tokyo’s mascot character, and perhaps even a beloved anime character, promising an engaging experience for all. Activities will run from September 13 to 15, from 11 AM to 6 PM, at the event space in front of Sanagi Shinjuku, conveniently located just a minute from the JR Shinjuku Station Southeast Exit.

Sustainable Programming


On September 15, from 12:00 to 12:55, a new documentary titled 'Blue Dream: Guardians of the Sea and Forest' will air, addressing current changes in Japan's natural environment and exploring how businesses can harmonize with nature. This captivating show, hosted by Suzuka Yamanouchi, aims to inspire the younger generation to take part in sustainable action.

Accessible Viewing for All


The broadcasts can be accessed nationally through real-time streaming on the official TVer service and available for catch-up on platforms like 'Net mo Television Tokyo' and 'U-NEXT.' This ensures that everyone, regardless of location, can witness and gain insights from this vital initiative.

Participation Campaign


From September 8 to October 5, viewers can also participate in a special giveaway campaign via the d-button on their remotes, featuring a total of 1 million yen in QUO cards and exclusive baseball figurines of popular show hosts.
