What is Para Fencing?
Para fencing, previously known as wheelchair fencing, has been a part of the Paralympic Games since the inaugural 1960 Rome Paralympics. In this sport, competitors are secured in specialized frames, allowing only their upper bodies to move. The distance and rapid exchanges of attacks in foil, epee, and sabre require quick judgment and speed. Participants are classified into classes A, B, or C based on their upper body strength and core stability.
Highlights of the Championship
- - Unique National Event: This is the only nationwide para fencing championship in Japan, where top athletes compete at a single venue.
- - Diverse Competitions: The event will showcase both foil, epee, and sabre races, emphasizing speed and strategic play.
- - Individual Battles: Athletes in Classes A and B will display their skills in intense individual matches.
