Exciting Invitation for IBD Patients and Families to Enjoy Baseball



In a unique collaboration, the G Community, an online community for patients with Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD), and the Osaka IBD Patient Association are pleased to offer a special invitation to Orix Buffaloes fans. This event, made possible by the cooperation of the Orix Group, invites IBD patients and their families to watch a baseball game against the Tohoku Rakuten Golden Eagles at the Kyocera Dome Osaka on June 29, 2025.

- 10:30 AM: Gathering at the venue
- 11:00 AM: Meet and greet with Coach Riku Adachi (10-20 minutes expected)
- 1:00 PM: Game starts (Orix Buffaloes vs. Tohoku Rakuten Golden Eagles)

Who Can Join?


This opportunity is open to 50 IBD patients and their family members or partners. The event is free of charge, but participants must cover their own travel expenses to and from Kyocera Dome Osaka. For those wishing to attend, please apply through the designated QR code or URL to fill out the application form.

Notification of Selection: Selected participants will be contacted via email by June 4, 2025.

Event Highlights


The event will include a special opportunity for participants to ask questions during the meet and greet session with Coach Riku Adachi, who himself is an IBD patient. There will also be a group photo session planned. However, please note that in case of unexpected circumstances related to Coach Adachi's health, the meet and greet may be canceled with no rescheduling available.

Participants will have designated seating either in the lower or upper sections of the stadium. While efforts will be made to seat groups together, there is a possibility that some participants may be placed apart, so please keep this in mind when applying.

About Coach Riku Adachi


Riku Adachi, born on January 7, 1988, in Gunma Prefecture, has made his mark in the professional baseball world. After playing for Gunma Prefectural Haneda High School, Jobu University, and Toshiba, he was drafted by the Orix Buffaloes in 2011. He became a regular shortstop by 2013. Although diagnosed with ulcerative colitis in 2016, he continued to excel on the field. Adachi contributed significantly to the team’s consecutive Pacific League championships starting in 2021 and retired in 2024. He then transitioned to become a coach for the Orix Buffaloes in 2025, with an impressive record of participating in 1,176 games and achieving 906 hits throughout his professional career.

Established in February 1986, the Osaka IBD is a patient-led organization representing those with ulcerative colitis and Crohn's disease, collectively known as IBD. With around 160 members, the organization focuses on educational workshops, support groups, and providing essential information to help patients regain their smiles.
