Farmers and Consumers Collaborate for Sustainable Organic Vegetable Certification
On November 12, 2025, the
Pal System Gunma cooperative is set to host a public verification meeting at
Premo Co., Ltd. in Maebashi City. At this event, consumers will have the opportunity to directly observe the cultivation environment of organic vegetables, ensuring the quality and safety of the products they consume.
Promoting Transparency and Trust
The public verification meeting is part of a system that has been independently operated by Pal System since 1999. This initiative allows consumers and producers to assess the production status of various farm, livestock, and aquatic products. From rice to vegetables and livestock, a diverse range of items are evaluated based on environmentally friendly and resource-circulated production techniques. As of April 2024, this will mark the 162nd meeting, strengthening the bonds between producers and consumers.
This upcoming meeting will focus on one of Pal System’s organic komatsuna (Japanese mustard spinach) sources,
Premo Co., Ltd., which is recognized for its commitment to quality and flavor. The farm has been producing organic komatsuna since over 30 years ago, specifically in the southern foothills of Mount Akagi, Gunma Prefecture. They were certified under the organic JAS (Japanese Agricultural Standards) when it was first launched in 2001, continuously providing quality komatsuna to their consumers throughout the year.
A Day of Learning and Engagement
During the public confirmation event, participants will actively engage in inspecting the processes involved in shipments, field management, and safety considerations. Reports from six auditors, who conducted prior surveys, will be presented, alongside presentations from the producers, site tours, and opportunities for communal dining and networking.
Consumers participating in the auditing process will have completed preliminary training sessions, which focus on Pal System’s direct purchasing practices and food safety. This knowledge allows them to collaborate effectively with other producers and Pal System staff, ensuring a thorough review based on established auditing criteria, ultimately verifying the safety of food and the dedication of the producers.
