BIT Asset Management Approved for Switzerland's First Spot Bitcoin ETF by FINMA

BIT Asset Management Launches Europe's Only Spot Bitcoin ETF

In a groundbreaking announcement, BIT Asset Management AG, a wholly-owned subsidiary of BIT based in Switzerland, has received approval from the Swiss Financial Market Supervisory Authority (FINMA) for the launch of the Bitcoin Fund ETF (Ticker: BBIT). Scheduled to commence trading on the SIX Swiss Exchange in November, the launch marks a significant milestone not only for BIT Asset Management but also for the broader cryptocurrency investment landscape in Europe.

Understanding the Bitcoin Fund ETF

The newly created Bitcoin Fund ETF is the first exchange-traded fund in Switzerland that allows private investors to invest directly in Bitcoin. Unlike other products in Europe that often represent debt instruments with associated issuer risks, the Bitcoin Fund ETF is structured as a Swiss collective investment scheme. This ensures that the fund's assets are separated from the management company's funds, thereby safeguarding investors' capital.

A spot Bitcoin ETF aims to mirror the price movement of Bitcoin itself, as opposed to relying on derivatives or futures contracts typical of many existing investment vehicles. This model has been successful in the United States, where several spot Bitcoin ETFs were launched, including the prominent iShares Bitcoin Trust by BlackRock.

The Swiss Advantage

BIT's decision to establish the Bitcoin Fund ETF in Switzerland highlights the country’s reputation as a global leader in digital asset management. John Ge, the CEO of BIT Group, emphasized that Switzerland offers a robust financial sector combined with regulatory clarity, making it an ideal environment for BIT’s international expansion. The approval of the Bitcoin Fund ETF serves as a testament to BIT's commitment to providing innovative financial solutions that bridge traditional finance and emerging technologies.

Dominik Oggenfuss, CEO of BIT Asset Management, stated, "Our goal with BBIT is to provide a completely Swiss Bitcoin ETF, encompassing every aspect from fund management to custody and listing on the SIX Swiss Exchange. With FINMA oversight, investors will gain direct access to Bitcoin through an established Swiss investment fund, benefiting from regulatory protection and transparency."

Investment Considerations

While the introduction of the Bitcoin Fund ETF represents a significant advancement in making Bitcoin investment accessible, potential investors should proceed with caution. The fund is classified within Switzerland's regulatory framework as an alternative investment fund with elevated risk levels. As such, it invests solely in Bitcoin, which is known for its extreme volatility. It is crucial for investors to familiarize themselves with the fund's documentation and risk disclosures before committing capital.

The fund is only approved for public distribution within Switzerland, and this announcement serves as an informational release rather than a solicitation in any jurisdiction. Therefore, it is not directed at individuals in the European Economic Area (EEA) or the United Kingdom.
