Huangshan: The Top Destination for International Tourists Discovering China

Huangshan: A Gem for Overseas Tourists

Huangshan city, nestled in East China's Anhui province, has emerged as a top destination for international travelers looking to explore the beauty of China. With its breathtaking scenery, rich cultural heritage, and improved accessibility, Huangshan offers a unique experience that caters to the diverse interests of visitors.

A Scenic and Cultural Wonderland

Huangshan is renowned for its stunning landscapes, which include the famous Mount Huangshan, a UNESCO World Heritage site. The city boasts 56 national grade A tourist attractions, adding to its appeal. Additionally, the historic villages of Hongcun and Xidi are also recognized as UNESCO World Heritage sites, showcasing the area's rich cultural history and architectural beauty.

The local intangible cultural heritage, such as the Huizhou Fish Lantern, attracts numerous visitors. During the recent Spring Festival, promotions led to a staggering 458% increase in tourism orders in Shexian county, highlighting the growing interest in Huangshan’s cultural offerings.

Enhanced Accessibility and Services

A significant factor in Huangshan's rise as a preferred destination is the implementation of the 240-hour visa-free transit policy. This new policy allows tourists from 54 countries to explore the city without the hassle of obtaining a visa, making it more convenient for international visitors.

Huangshan is also well-connected via transportation routes. It serves as one of the five major high-speed rail hubs in the Yangtze River Delta, with an impressive average of 250 trains running daily. Additionally, Huangshan Tunxi International Airport has expanded its operations, now offering 25 routes, including five international ones, linking to 28 cities.

In December 2024, Tunxi airport was designated as a 240-hour visa-free transit port, further promoting tourism to the region. This new status is expected to attract more overseas visitors seeking to experience the natural and cultural wonders of Huangshan.

Seamless Payment Solutions for Tourists

Understanding the needs of international travelers, Huangshan has also launched initiatives to enhance visitor services. In collaboration with Ant Group, the Mount Huangshan Scenic Area implemented the first international visitor-friendly scenic spot program. This program facilitates a convenient payment process for tourists through mobile applications, covering everything from ticket booking to dining and shopping.

Currently, the city features 60 foreign exchange points and 302 ATMs that accept foreign cards, especially around core scenic areas. Tunxi Old Street has become Anhui's first area to offer overseas payment service business, making it easier for tourists to navigate their financial transactions while enjoying their stay.

Additionally, the Alipay scan-to-pay service, a popular mobile payment method in China, allows tourists to effortlessly engage in transactions across dining, accommodation, transportation, shopping, and entertainment venues. Ahmed Jabar, a traveler from Iraq, shared his experience: "With just a mobile phone, you can pay, guide, translate, and more. It's so convenient! After using Alipay for shopping and payments, I recommend Huangshan to my friends for its beauty and the ease of travel."

Conclusion

With its rich cultural heritage, stunning landscapes, convenient access, and enhanced services, Huangshan city is rapidly becoming the go-to destination for international tourists exploring China. Visitors seeking an unforgettable experience are sure to find everything they wish for in this captivating city. As Huangshan continues to expand its offerings and improve its services, the world can only expect even greater things from this remarkable destination.
