Prior to this position, he was the CEO of the Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority, where he led a workforce of 11,000 in executing the largest modern public works program in North America, advancing critical investments in transit and mobility across the county.

His contributions have not gone unnoticed, as he has received several awards, including the Honorable Ray LaHood Award from the Women’s Transportation Seminar in 2018 and the Norman Mineta Award for his leadership in transportation in 2017.

With a 24-year military career in the U.S. Army, where he retired at the rank of Command Sergeant Major, Washington is not only an accomplished leader but also a disabled veteran. His educational background includes a bachelor's degree in business from Columbia College and a master's degree in management from Webster University, alongside advanced training from the Harvard Kennedy School.
