Enjoy After-Work Drinking and Delicious Soba at Station Soba Shops!

Enjoy a Relaxing After-Work Drink at the Station Soba Shops!

After a long day at work, there’s nothing quite like unwinding with a refreshing drink at your local soba shop. Starting June 5, 2025, JR East Japan Cross Station Foods Co., known for its popular soba outlets “Kiraku” and “Kiraku Soba,” will kick off their "Choi-Nomi" (light drinking) campaign at 86 locations. This initiative, which was greatly appreciated during last year’s run, promises to enhance commutes and after-work outings with delicious food and enticing offers.

What’s the Choi-Nomi Campaign?

During this campaign, patrons who order an alcoholic drink will receive a special “Choi-Nomi Ticket.” For every drink purchased, customers get one ticket, which can be collected and exchanged for various rewards. These rewards include a small bottle of Yebisu beer after collecting five tickets, a free topping of kitsune (sweetened tofu) with three tickets, and a free topping of tanuki (crispy tempura bits) with just one ticket. Additionally, barcodes offering discounts on various appetizers will be available for all followers on the official Kiraku Twitter account (@KirakuSoba).

Moreover, customers who use their registered Suica cards for purchases exceeding 500 yen (including alcohol) can enter a raffle. Prizes include JRE Points and unique “Suica Penguin” water bottles, giving everyone more reasons to enjoy a delightful evening.

Tasty Appetizers Await!

At "Kiraku" and "Kiraku Soba", patrons can find five specially curated appetizers designed to complement their drinking experience. For example:
  • - Motsu-Ni: Fresh domestic beef offal, tender radishes, and carrots stewed in a flavorful miso sauce, a perfect dish to pair with your drink.
  • - Katsu-Ni: A delicious katsukare served freshly prepared upon order, ensuring optimal taste and quality.
  • - Wasabi Duck Negi: Sliced duck combined with wasabi in a unique and delightful pairing.
  • - Tanuki Cold Tofu: Tofu topped with crispy tempura bits, drizzled with the shop's signature sauce.
  • - Sansai Oroshi: A refreshing dish of mountain vegetables to cleanse the palate in between sips.

Enjoy sipping your drink while feasting on these bites before wrapping up your meal with a warm or cold soba, the perfect way to conclude your Choi-Nomi experience.

Creative Dining Combinations

If you're feeling adventurous, here are some suggested combinations to customize your meal for the ultimate dining experience:
1. Order a Kake Udon with Motsu-Ni for a comforting Motsu-Ni Udon finale.
2. Order rice with Motsu-Ni for a fulfilling Motsu-Ni Donburi wrap-up.
3. Combine Bukkake Soba with Tanuki Cold Tofu and add some natto for a versatile natto tofu bukkake soba mix.
