Ben Munson Assumes Role as President of Contour Aviation Starting January 2025

Contour Aviation has made a significant leadership change with the announcement of Ben Munson as the new President, effective January 6, 2025. This strategic appointment comes as the company seeks to enhance its operational capabilities and foster growth in the competitive aviation market. Reporting directly to CEO Matt Chaifetz, Munson will take charge of the day-to-day operations, which encompasses dispatch functions, flight activities, maintenance, commercial planning, finance, and human resources. Chaifetz expressed his enthusiasm about Munson joining the team, highlighting their decade-long partnership and Munson's dynamic leadership skills.

Munson arrives at Contour with nearly 20 years of extensive experience in the aviation industry. His previous roles include network planning positions at notable airlines such as AirTran Airways and Alaska Airlines. He is also the founder of Embark Aviation, a consultancy firm that has worked with Contour since 2017, focusing on revenue management, schedule planning, and network analysis. Additionally, he served as the CEO of Seaborne Airlines, where he was instrumental in the company's restructuring efforts. Just prior to his appointment at Contour, Munson was co-founder and President of The Landline Company since its inception in 2018.

Expressing his excitement about his new role, Munson acknowledged the remarkable growth of Contour, particularly the achievement of building a fleet of nearly 40 jet aircraft in just eight years. He emphasized his eagerness to work alongside the dedicated team of over 700 employees at Contour to further cement the company's position as an industry leader.

As he transitions into his new role, Munson will be relocating to Smyrna, Tennessee, where Contour Aviation's headquarters is located. Founded in 1982, Contour Aviation operates its regional airline brand, Contour Airlines, which provides critical air services to 29 cities across the United States, including a strong focus on Essential Air Service communities. The company boasts a growing fleet featuring Embraer and Bombardier aircraft, complemented by its offerings of private jet charters, aircraft management, and maintenance services.

With Contour Airlines' tickets available for purchase via their website and through major airline partners, Munson's leadership arrives at a pivotal moment as the company is poised for further expansion in the aviation sector. With such an experienced executive at the helm, stakeholders and employees alike are optimistic about the future trajectory of Contour Aviation under Munson's leadership.
