Genkai Team Emerges Victorious at ET RoboCon 2025

Success at Tokyo-Kanto Regional Championship

The Genkai team, comprised solely of new graduates from Genetec Inc., celebrated a remarkable achievement at the ET RoboCon 2025 Tokyo-Kanto regional event held on September 14, 2025. The team not only clinched the top spot in both the competition and overall categories but also earned the prestigious IPA Award, marking their advance to the championship finals.

With 30 teams competing, Genkai stood out by navigating challenging technical sections, especially the gate passage, demonstrating exceptional speed and stability. Winning the competition category solidified their hard work and ingenuity. In the overall category, they excelled in design quality assessments, earning points for their precise movements, system reliability, and effective handling of complex tasks. This cumulative performance won them the overall champion title as well.

Furthermore, the team's dedication to software design and system stability was recognized with the IPA Award, a special recognition that highlights their commitment and technical prowess. The achievement of securing three awards in total underscores their amazing journey in the competition.

Team Formation and Development

The formation of Genkai as an exclusive team of new graduates was a strategic initiative aimed at fostering innovation among young engineers. The members adopted the Scrum development method, which emphasizes short iterative cycles for refining their designs and solutions. Through collaborative problem-solving, they could efficiently tackle the competition's challenges. Additionally, senior employees acted as mentors, offering critical technical advice and guidance, allowing the newer team members to grow in their logical reasoning and communication skills.

In a statement, the team leader remarked, “While we were solely a team of new graduates, our commitment to role switching and prioritizing tasks enabled us to achieve these results. Whenever we faced challenges, mentors were readily available to support us. This kind of robust company backing allowed us to focus on our goals confidently. As we head towards the championship finals, we aim to enhance the stability of our operations further and strive for victory.”

Championship Finals and Future Aspirations

The championship event is set to take place from November 19 to 21, 2025, at the Pacifico Yokohama in Kanagawa Prefecture, with the competition day scheduled for November 20. Once again, Genkai's commitment to innovation and excellence is on display.

In preparing for the finals, Genetec aims to continue supporting the team in refining their strategies and performance. The company emphasizes that the learnings and challenges surmounted during this competition will improve their internal training programs, enabling them to consistently develop high-quality engineers.
