Continuity Biosciences Welcomes Vicky Papoutsis to Its Board
Continuity Biosciences recently announced the appointment of Vicky Papoutsis to its board of directors. With an impressive career spanning over 25 years in biopharmaceutical business development and corporate strategy, Papoutsis's addition comes at a pivotal time for the company as it advances its clinical programs and expands its partnership activities.
As Continuity Biosciences transitions from platform development to clinical implementation, Papoutsis will play a critical role. The company’s flagship program targeting pancreatic cancer has entered clinical phases, and as further projects in its portfolio gain traction, there is an increasing emphasis on strategic partnerships. Papoutsis’ direct experience in negotiating licensing and corporate development transactions aligns perfectly with Continuity’s growth objectives.
Currently serving as Executive Vice President and Chief Strategy Officer at TerSera Therapeutics, Papoutsis has a wealth of experience in the biopharmaceutical sector. She has led licensing, mergers and acquisitions, international operations, and corporate strategy initiatives, successfully negotiating over 30 strategic transactions throughout her career. Furthermore, she has a track record of founding three successful, private equity-funded life sciences startups.
Robert Whitehead, Co-Founder and Executive Chair of Continuity Biosciences, expressed his confidence in Papoutsis, stating, “I have had the privilege of working with Vicky on a number of transactions over the years and have long admired her professionalism, strategic judgment, and exceptional ability to create value through partnerships. As we advance our clinical and preclinical programs and expand our strategic partnership activities, Vicky’s experience will be invaluable. We are thrilled to welcome her to Continuity.”
Papoutsis herself shared her delight at joining the board during such a crucial phase of the company's development, saying, “Continuity has assembled an outstanding management team, scientific advisors, and board, while building an innovative portfolio of technologies that deliver precise drug administration across various therapeutic areas. I look forward to supporting the company’s long-term strategy, contributing to the expansion of its strategic partnerships, and advancing the mission to improve treatment outcomes for patients.”
Papoutsis's arrival enriches a board that has been carefully constructed to combine expertise in biotechnology innovation, pharmaceutical development, healthcare, corporate governance, finance, operations, regulatory affairs, and strategic business development. This array of experience provides a solid foundation for Continuity Biosciences to pursue its mission of revolutionizing drug delivery methods.
The board members collectively hold experience in founding biotechnology companies, developing and marketing innovative drugs, leading globally recognized healthcare organizations, building well-known consumer brands, advising leading life sciences companies, managing billions in investments, and executing transformative strategic transactions.
Continuity Biosciences is advancing a portfolio of precise drug delivery platforms designed to administer therapies locally, continuously, and over extended periods. The company’s technologies include intratumoral drug delivery for solid tumors, nanofluidic implants for sustained local release, subcutaneous long-term implants, implantable devices for cell therapy, and microneedle systems for intradermal precision delivery.
