The film's story dives deeply into personal struggles and familial relationships, revealing the daily challenges individuals face while highlighting the universal battle for self-acceptance. Written, produced, and starring Sauda Johnson-McNeal, with direction from Kenn Michael, the film features a stellar cast of notable actors including Marla Gibbs, Obba Babatundé, and Wendy Raquel Robinson.
Limited Theatrical Release
Prior to its VOD launch,
Love The Skin You're In had a limited theatrical launch in December 2025, making waves at the La Femme International Film Festival and gaining recognition with an upcoming showcase at the 2026 Pan African Film Arts Festival in Los Angeles.
Sauda Johnson-McNeal, a practicing attorney turned filmmaker, dedicates her creative endeavors to amplifying the voices and narratives of Black women, making this initiative a personal and significant venture for her. Although the film centers on the revival of a single Black family's healing journey, its themes resonate universally. It addresses strained relationships, overcoming childhood and generational trauma, mental wellness, and the quest for self-love—the inquiries that many face across various communities.
