TGI Fridays® Accelerates Global Expansion
TGI Fridays®, the iconic casual dining brand, is taking significant strides in its global expansion efforts. On September 8, 2025, Sugarloaf TGIF Management, LLC, which oversees the TGI Fridays® brand, publicized a new trajectory with franchise agreements in Peru and Japan, aimed at unveiling over 50 new restaurant locations. These ambitious plans illustrate the brand's commitment to enhancing its global footprint and leveraging the potency of its franchise network.
Drawing on over six decades of experience in the casual dining space, TGI Fridays® continues to resonate with fans around the world, delivering a blend of fun, flavor, and memorable experiences in nearly 40 countries. The brand's unique franchise-first strategy allows for a flexible business model that caters to diverse dining environments—from flagship restaurants and airports to urban outlets.
As of now, TGI Fridays® boasts a growing presence in Peru, where it has recently inaugurated a restaurant at Real Plaza Primavera in Lima, increasing its local count to 20. In addition, a new restaurant has opened in Yokohama, Japan, reinforcing TGI Fridays®' footprint in this bustling nation.
With these 50 new locations planned, the momentum for TGI Fridays® is stronger than ever, as it aims to reach a milestone of 1,000 restaurants worldwide. Phil Broad, President of TGI Fridays® International Franchising, remarked on the brand's strength, saying, "TGI Fridays isn't just another casual dining brand—it has a proven high-energy concept that resonates culturally and commercially."
TGI Fridays® has seen exceptional growth thanks to devoted partners like Franquicias Alimentarias S.A. in Peru, led by Diego Roca. His leadership reflects a commitment to expanding the brand, transitioning from two initial locations to a ambitious projection of developing up to 30 new restaurants under this refreshed agreement. Roca shared his enthusiasm, noting that TGI Fridays® brings energy and connection to guests, enhancing both team drive and customer loyalty.
Meanwhile, in Japan, TGI Fridays® has firmly established itself within the casual dining sector. Recent extended agreements with Watami Co., Ltd. position the brand for aggressive growth across various market segments. The unique urban footprint model minimizes space usage while maximizing guest experience, making it financially viable in high-rent districts.
