esVolta Launches Innovative Battery Storage Projects to Enhance Texas Energy Grid
esVolta Launches Three Large-Scale Storage Projects in Texas
Newport Beach, California – On July 30, 2025, esVolta, LP, a prominent developer of large-scale battery energy storage systems, announced that three critical projects in Texas have commenced operations. This initiative aims to provide nearly 1 gigawatt-hour (GWh) of renewable energy to bolster grid reliability, essential for the rapidly growing metropolitan area of Dallas and the rural communities in West Texas.
The newly operational storage portfolio includes the 300 megawatt-hour (MWh) Desert Willow, the 480 MWh Anole, and the 200 MWh Burksol projects. Together, these sites represent approximately 4% of the anticipated energy storage capacity in the Electric Reliability Council of Texas (ERCOT) system, which is projected to reach 12.2 gigawatts (GW) by mid-2025.
Innovative Technology Driving Expansion
These projects not only exhibit advanced technology through lithium-iron phosphate batteries but also highlight esVolta's unique financial strategies and executional excellence. With increasing demand for electricity, especially during peak summer months, the significance of these energy storage projects cannot be overstated.
The Desert Willow and Anole projects are strategically sited to support the Dallas area, which ranks fifth in electricity consumption nationwide. Meanwhile, the Burksol facility, launched in March 2025, is aligned with the Wind Energy Transmission of Texas' grid, reinforcing energy access for local communities. All three projects are engineered to provide prompt energy responses and ancillary services within the ERCOT market, which is crucial for alleviating congestion and fortifying the regional electric grid.
Partnership and Financing
One of the critical aspects of the project development was the collaboration with reputable partners. esVolta worked alongside Saber Power for the Desert Willow and Burksol projects and with Quanta Infrastructure Solutions Group for Anole, focusing on engineering, procurement, and construction tasks. In the last seven years, esVolta has positioned itself as a leader in the energy storage sector, famed for its innovative financing and design strategies.
For funding these significant installations, esVolta collaborated with Captona LLC for preferred equity investments and secured construction and term debt financing from a lender syndicate led by Mitsubishi UFJ Financial Group (MUFG). This strategic financial approach was essential to acquire top-tier technology and construction partnerships, vital for successful project execution.
