TECO Launches Innovative High-Payload UAV Systems and Robotics at XPONENTIAL 2026
TECO Makes Waves in North America with UAV Technology and Robotics Innovations
In May 2026, TECO Electric & Machinery Co., along with its U.S. subsidiary TECO-Westinghouse Motor Company, unveiled groundbreaking advancements at the prestigious XPONENTIAL 2026. This premier exhibition, held in Detroit, Michigan, focuses on the latest in autonomous systems and unmanned technologies.
TECO showcased its latest drone hairpin motor power system, tailored specifically for high-payload UAVs, as well as its award-winning All-in-One robotic joint module. These innovations exemplify TECO's commitment to extending its reach in the burgeoning commercial UAV and intelligent robotics markets.
The Impact of TECO’s Innovations
TECO's president, Fei-Yuan Kao, emphasized the significance of this North American introduction, stating it highlights the company's advanced integration capabilities in electromechanics. The new UAV hairpin powertrain system and robotic modules are designed to meet the increasing demands for efficiency and reliability among industries such as agriculture and logistics. TECO aims to forge robust partnerships with manufacturers and service providers in the UAV field that are emerging rapidly in North America.
High-Payload UAV Powertrain System
The drone power solution exhibited is engineered for commercial UAVs with payload capacities ranging from 10 to 100 kilograms. It integrates a T Power Air 12.5kW hairpin motor along with a high-power electronic speed controller (ESC), achieving a remarkable thrust of 76.5 kilograms per shaft. This configuration enables high-performance applications such as pesticide spraying and logistics operations.
Notably, the optimized design of TECO's UAV propulsion system, featuring a hairpin stator and a permanent magnet outer-rotor, delivers a torque density that is 25% greater than traditional motors, with a peak efficiency of 91.8%. This technology has already proven its effectiveness in real-world agricultural applications.
In light of the surge in demand for medium-sized logistics drones, TECO is also advancing a low-rare-earth variant of its hairpin motor. This initiative reflects TECO's strategic adaptability in tapping into changing market dynamics.
Award-Winning Robotic Joint Module
At XPONENTIAL 2026, TECO further spotlighted its All-in-One robotic joint module, which recently won the 2026 Taiwan Excellence Gold Award. This innovative system combines essential components like brushless DC motors, gears, and sensors, delivering reliable and precise motion control suitable for various intelligent mobility applications, from robotic arms to humanoid robots.
These advancements underscore TECO's prowess in research and development for high-precision electromechanical solutions, reaffirming its long-term strategy in smart automation.
A Legacy of Innovation
With over 70 years of experience in electromechanical systems, TECO is not only advancing its core capabilities in intelligent power systems but also branching out into smart mobility and manufacturing. The company's participation in XPONENTIAL 2026 not only showcases its innovative products across UAV and robotics technology but also strengthens its foothold in the North American market through localized service initiatives.
Looking ahead, TECO’s plans involve continuous collaboration with global partners, positioning itself as a pivotal player in driving future intelligent applications across the globe.
