As per the report, direct selling has generated $164 billion in retail sales, showcasing an increase of approximately $675 million compared to pre-pandemic levels.
With about 45% of the markets analyzing showing growth, the number of independent representatives has slightly climbed to 104.3 million, of which an impressive 72.1% are women. He emphasized that the United States continues to lead the market, alongside notable growth in countries such as Brazil, India, and China.
The Asia-Pacific region remains dominant regarding market share, especially driven by emerging players like Malaysia. However, the Americas witnessed the fastest growth in 2024, indicating a shift in dynamics across continents. Interestingly, the number of billion-dollar markets remains the same as in previous years at 21, indicating stability in high-revenue areas.
When delving into product categories, wellness products continue to be at the forefront of the industry's offering, alongside cosmetics and personal care items such as K-beauty brands, which have seen a rise in popularity. Shaila Manyam, Executive Director of WFDSA, noted the viability of direct selling as a business model due to its low startup costs, robust community backing, and high-quality products. This combination makes it an attractive option for entrepreneurs, particularly women, although men are gradually joining this entrepreneurial realm as well.
