A Legacy of Empowering Women: The Conclusion of I Choose To Win

For over a decade, I Choose To Win (ICTW) has been a transformative force, uplifting more than 10,000 women and girls in the Philadelphia area. Today, the 501(c)(3) nonprofit has announced its planned dissolution effective September 30, 2026. This marked decision comes after years of dedicated service, empowering participants to navigate and succeed in their personal and professional lives.

Founded in 2014, I Choose To Win provided a range of services including conferences, retreats, mentorship programs, and community initiatives designed to foster leadership skills and personal growth. Over the years, participants have launched businesses, earned degrees, and published books, all while gaining the confidence to become leaders in their communities.

The decision to dissolve the organization wasn't taken lightly. The leadership team and Board of Directors reached this conclusion after reflecting on the organization's impact and future sustainability, particularly in light of a health crisis faced by the founder, Melonie Butler, in late 2025. Butler expressed, "This decision is collective, made with care, as we recognize the importance of wrapping up this chapter gracefully while honoring the lives we've touched."

Throughout its history, I Choose To Win engaged with various stakeholders including 35 community partners and 154 corporate sponsors. This collaborative approach led to the successful execution of 148 programs that catered to the needs of women and girls, ensuring that they had the resources and support to thrive.

Notably, the final initiative of ICTW, known as L.E.T. H.E.R. (Ladies Enduring Trauma Healing Emotionally Right-Now!), addressed the pressing issue of gun violence. Through healing-centered mentorship, this program aimed to support individuals who had been affected by such trauma, reflecting Butler’s own experiences as a youth co-survivor of gun violence. "We're incredibly grateful to have helped women engage life as bold, brave, and brilliant versions of themselves," stated Butler during the announcement.

As I Choose To Win prepares for its final chapter, the organization emphasizes that while the nonprofit will no longer operate, its mission and the values taught will continue to resonate within the community. The legacy of empowerment they leave behind is a testament to the positive changes that can occur when women and girls are supported to pursue their passions.
