Big Blue Marble Academy's Young Learners Raise Nearly $150,000 for Global Causes in 2024

A Remarkable Achievement: Big Blue Marble Academy's Young Learners

In 2024, Big Blue Marble Academy (BBMA), a prominent name in early childhood education, proudly announced that their students raised nearly $150,000 for various local and global initiatives. This impressive feat showcases the commitment of young minds to enact change through community service.

Heart Projects: A Key to Making a Difference

BBMA’s fundraising efforts stem from their signature service learning projects, dubbed "Heart Projects." These initiatives encourage children from numerous schools, spread across eight states, to engage with their communities actively. Through partnerships with both local organizations and international charities, students learn how their contributions can have a meaningful effect on the lives of others.

Jeff Wahl, the CEO of Big Blue Marble Academy, expressed his pride in the students’ accomplishments. "We're teaching our young learners that they don’t have to wait until they grow up to make a difference," he said. By engaging in these Heart Projects, students gain invaluable lessons on empathy, teamwork, and the importance of giving back.

Fundraising Highlights of 2024

Among the numerous successful fundraising campaigns, one particularly noteworthy initiative was the "Popcorn for a Purpose" event. This endeavor successfully raised over $78,000, benefiting children through the GLOW Mission and Season of Giving initiatives. Furthermore, students also organized a fundraiser for Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation, generating an impressive sum of $36,736 for critical childhood cancer research.

Additionally, BBMA collaborated with the Mission of Hope's Madonna Project, raising $28,333 through their Change for Change drive. These funds will support new mothers at Rotifunk Hospital in Sierra Leone, showcasing how young learners can have an immediate impact on global issues.

Creating Comfort: Blanketing Love

Moreover, students responded to community needs by crafting 544 “Blankets of Love,” which were donated to orphanages, shelters, and local hospitals. This tangible act of kindness provided comfort and warmth to those who needed it most.

As the year drew to a close, the Season of Giving initiative aims to provide gifts for children in need during the holidays, ensuring that joy could be spread to those who may not otherwise receive it.

Recognition from the Community

In recognition of BBMA's outstanding efforts and contributions, Rotifunk Hospital dedicated a labor and delivery suite to the school. This honor reflects the deep commitment BBMA has towards bettering the lives of mothers and infants in underprivileged situations across the globe.

Wahl emphasized, "It’s an honor to know that our students are making a tangible difference in the lives of mothers and babies in need across the world. This is just the beginning of the impact our young learners will make as they grow."
