BAE Systems Secures $188 Million Contract for the ACV-30mm
BAE Systems has officially been awarded a substantial contract worth $188 million from the U.S. Marine Corps, aimed at the full-rate production of 30 Amphibious Combat Vehicles (ACV-30mm). This mark signifies a significant milestone as it represents the first award from the pivotal Full-Rate Production (FRP) Lot 5/6 contract that is set to enhance the operational capabilities of the Marine Corps in various combat conditions.
The ACV-30mm is designed to be a versatile asset, equipped to perform in diverse environments from aquatic operations to arduous desert missions. This adaptability positions the ACV-30mm as an essential component for the versatility needed in modern military operations. With its enhanced direct-fire capabilities from a fully stabilized 30mm weapon system, the vehicle ensures Marines are well-equipped for both amphibious and land-based missions.
Rebecca McGrane, Vice President of Amphibious Programs at BAE Systems, emphasized the ACV's adaptability, stating that the vehicle is not only capable of swimming but is also optimized for ship-to-shore transitions and complex land operations. This versatility is essential for enabling troops to respond effectively across different terrains and operational contexts.
The ACV-30 also integrates a medium-caliber Remote Turret System, which is being procured separately and will be installed at the Naval Information Warfare Integration Center Atlantic. This integration is expected to enhance the combat effectiveness of this vehicle while providing robust protection for the troops during deployments.
In addition to the ACV-30, BAE Systems is maintaining contracts for other variants of the ACV, including the ACV-Personnel (ACV-P) and the ACV-Command (ACV-C). The ACV-P variant plays a critical role in troop transport, capable of accommodating 13 combat-ready Marines along with three crew members. Meanwhile, the ACV-C variant features multiple workstations aimed at facilitating situational awareness for Marines in dynamic battle spaces.
Furthermore, BAE Systems is also in the process of producing three ACV-Recovery (ACV-R) variant test vehicles. These units will provide maintenance, recovery, and repair capabilities to the Assault Amphibian Companies that support Marine divisions, reinforcing the operational readiness of the Corps.
The production activities associated with the ACV-30mm will be distributed across various facilities in York, Pennsylvania, Johnstown, Pennsylvania, and Charleston, South Carolina. This contract highlights BAE Systems' commitment to providing advanced solutions tailored to the U.S. military's evolving needs and requirements, and the work under this contract is anticipated to continue through the third quarter of 2026.
With the ACV-30mm, the U.S. Marine Corps aims to enhance its combat capabilities significantly. The integration of advanced technologies and superior armaments ensures that Marines will be positioned to tackle a myriad of challenges, maintaining a vital edge in both offensive and defensive operations,
