A. Lange & Söhne Unveils the New Cabaret Tourbillon in Honey Gold
A. Lange & Söhne has officially announced the release of its new Cabaret Tourbillon in an exclusive limited edition of just 50 pieces. This masterpiece epitomizes the brand's unrivaled craftsmanship and sophisticated design, featuring a case and dial crafted from their proprietary 750 Honey Gold (HONEYGOLD®). The intricate relief engraving on the dial stands out vividly against the backdrop of a black rhodium finish, enhancing the watch's artistic three-dimensionality, particularly evident in its tourbillon equipped with a stop-seconds mechanism.
Unique Craftsmanship of the New Model
At the forefront of this stunning timepiece is the luxurious case and dial made of Honey Gold 750. By employing this unique material in both the case and dial, A. Lange & Söhne has created a rare combination that imbues the watch with an extraordinary sense of elegance. The warm glow of the Honey Gold not only provides a beautiful contrast with the detailed relief work carved into the black rhodium-finished dial but also enhances the overall aesthetic appeal of the watch.
The open aperture located at 6 o'clock allows watch enthusiasts to view the mesmerizing tourbillon equipped with a stop-seconds function. The upper tourbillon bridge and the top of the cage showcase an elaborate black polish finish, demonstrating the brand’s incredible attention to detail.
Close-Up of the New Cabaret Tourbillon in Honey Gold
The dial of the Cabaret Tourbillon in Honey Gold is meticulously crafted in-house. This impressive dial consists of three parts: the main dial, a small seconds subdial, and an up/down power reserve indicator. Both the frames and scales, alongside the A. LANGE & SÖHNE engravings, are painstakingly carved from the dial material into a clear relief measuring 0.15mm in height. Such precision requires an extreme level of meticulousness, presenting a significant challenge even for the most skilled craftsmen.
Superior Black Polish Finish
The three components of the dial are treated with a black rhodium finish, after which artisans hand-polish the raised areas to accentuate the shimmering Honey Gold against the dark background. Finally, the meticulously polished Roman numerals III, IX, and XII are complemented by six rhomboid applied indexes and an outer date frame. The connection of both subdials to the main dial is done from the back, requiring several weeks to complete the entire manufacturing process, from start to finish.
The Artistic Craft of Horology
Observing through the opening on the dial, one can relive the captivating sight presented by the tourbillon. The artisanship shines through with the application of the challenging 'black polish' technique on the upper tourbillon bridge and cage, created by hand using special polishing materials and technique. This meticulous work results in a surface that appears reflective from certain angles and reveals a deep black gleam from others. Additionally, every sharp edge within the cage has been polished to perfection, showcasing the ultimate level of precision required.
History and Innovation
The Cabaret Tourbillon serves as a milestone in the realm of precision watchmaking. In 2008, A. Lange & Söhne, with this watch, introduced the world's first tourbillon with a stop-seconds mechanism, a function subsequently incorporated into various models by the manufacture. This latest release in Honey Gold carries forward this legacy into the present.
The patented mechanism developed by Lange allows the tourbillon to be instantaneously halted by a regulating spring, regardless of its position. This innovation enables second-by-second precision adjustments that were previously unattainable in tourbillon-equipped models, addressing a long-standing challenge in horology.
Sophisticated Movement Inside
Looking through the sapphire case back reveals the technical intricacy and mechanical elegance of the hand-wound caliber L042.1, comprising a total of 370 components, with 84 of them dedicated to the delicate tourbillon that weighs only 0.25g. Its twin barrels provide an astonishing power reserve of 120 hours, while the balance swings at 21,600 vibrations per hour.
The large movement of the Cabaret Tourbillon in Honey Gold, measuring 22.3×32.6mm, is perfectly shaped to fit the rectangular case, rooted in the legacy of the original rectangular model, Cabaret, which has symbolized splendor and uniqueness since its inception in 1997.
Many brand-specific features are evident, including the three-quarter plate crafted from material that highlights its characteristics, garnished with a Glashütte stripe finish, separate engraved tourbillon and intermediate wheel settings, gold chatons secured with screws, blue screws, and a sunburst finish on the gear with corner cutouts.
Essence of Elegance
The dimensions of the case measure 29.5×39.2mm with a thickness of 10.3mm. The harmony between the warm shine of the Honey Gold case and the sophisticated black rhodium-finished dial is further enhanced by the dark brown alligator leather strap, secured with a Honey Gold pin buckle.
The Cabaret Tourbillon in Honey Gold marks the 18th Lange watch made from this luxurious material. It is scheduled to be unveiled in mid-May 2026 at the Concorso dEleganza Villa dEste by Lake Como in Italy. For more details visit
