The prominent Japanese taxi firm, Nihon Kotsu, headquartered in Chiyoda, Tokyo, has taken a significant step in youth sports development by signing a partnership with professional surfer Minatsu Ishida, a prodigious talent at just 13 years old. This collaboration will see Ishida join the Team Nihon Kotsu athlete development program, marking a pivotal moment in both her surfing career and in the company’s commitment to fostering young athletes.

Profile of Minatsu Ishida


Born on May 19, 2013, in Ichinomiya, Chiba, Ishida first caught the surfing wave at the young age of seven. As part of OCEAN ZONE, a renowned surf shop, she has been refining her skills with daily practice, promising to make her mark on both domestic and international surfing scenes.

Key Achievements


Despite her young age, Ishida has an impressive list of accomplishments:
  • - 2026: Ascended the ranks to the highest tier of Japan's pro tour, S1, after exhibiting outstanding performance in the S2 tour. She was also selected as a member of the U-16 Japan National Team and participated in the ISA World Junior Championships.
  • - 2025: Crowned champion at the Junior Open Surfing Championships and marked her name in history by winning consecutive titles at the All-Japan Surfing Championships (1st class). She made an unbelievable first entry into the S2 league as the youngest participant and won, earning her professional certification.
  • - 2024: Received the title of champion in the All-Japan Surfing Championships and clinched victory at the 58th All-Japan Surfing Championships for kids.
